Angel of Darkness is generally considered the worst game in the Tomb Raider franchise, and with good reason. The urban areas are awkwardly designed and uninteresting, the camera becomes a major hindrance at regular intervals, the stealth element was poorly implemented, the controls have been changed up for the worse, much of the plot is silly ("I... I... I can't remember if I killed him!"), and load screens come frequently and sometimes they are in places you will want to trace back and forth over a few times. This game was meant to turn the series around by putting Lara in different situations than fans had seen her in during the earlier games, and it does that to an extent. The action in Angel of Darkness is much more dynamic than in previous Tomb Raider titles, right from the start the player sees Lara using her skills to flee rather than seek, and certain parts of the game put more pressure on the player to get things done more quickly than earlier Tomb Raider games, where you could take your time and explore every area fully. The player gets to see Lara interacting with other people much more and can choose some of what she says to get different reactions, although the results of what the player chooses generally don't matter much long-term. Lara can be "leveled up" in certain respects, although the level up system is pretty arbitrary--you basically can't bash open one door in an area until you've "trained up" by bashing in another door ten feet away from it. Overall the game isn't a complete wash, but I would recommend playing pretty much every other Tomb Raider title first and then coming back to this, you probably won't finish it unless you are a real die-hard fan of the series.
