If you are getting the 4109 error and the fix is not working for you after following all the instructions, you will need to submit a support request.

Re: 4109 Error Description - The Real Story
I've tried everything mentioned here but I can't play any games other than Browser Games (e.g. Tempest, Qix II, Galaga).
I do not have an X or Y drive mapped. I am logged in as an administrator.
What do I do now?
I have only just come back to playing GT games after a long absence, and from what I can see and read in the forums, whoever made the decision to go live with the online version, and kill the standalone player, before the it was ready was trying to destroy the company from the inside. I'm not blaming the programmers, but whoever made the business decision to go live, should be fired if they haven't already been.
As I write this there are only 819 players online. For a service like GT this is nothing. If things aren't fixed immediately there won't be any customers left. Maybe a "New Coke"-like acknowledgment that the old version was worth keeping and an immediate return to the previous player could keep you alive. Otherwise, it doesn't look good.

Re: 4109 Error Description - The Real Story
I have tried this, numerous times, just in case I didn't follow the directions correctly the previous time, but I still cannot run any non-browser games. The procedure you linked to does not say what to do if it doesn't work. Quote: 5. If the game launches sucessfully, Restart your computer. | | |
What if it doesn't?

Re: 4109 Error Description - The Real Story
Well, I stand corrected. I tried it again. I followed the directions as carefully as I could this time. I also added the step of downloading and running a small (under 30K) Windows game at step 4, and all is good.
Sorry I didn't give it enough of a chance before posting, but I think I probably shouldn't have been put through any of this in the first place. When I decide to play a game, I should just be able to. I shouldn't have to scour the Forums or perform more than one "fix" to get the service I'm paying for to work as well as the last time I played.
Thanks for your efforts at fixing the problems with the new player. Please make any future "fixes" automatic.

You are 100% correct, you and the other users shouldn't have to jump through hoops like this, and I'm sorry you had to. A permanent and automatic fix will be included in the next player update.

Re: 4109 Error Description - The Real Story
Hey, I finally got it working. What I did: 1. Deleted games. 2. Used task manager to close Gametap player and browser. 3. Ran Gametap player AS ADMINISTRATOR. 4. Ran Firefox as admin. 5. Downloaded games.
And it worked!

Re: 4109 Error Description - The Real Story
I have to reboot my computer each time I want to play a new game or I get the 4109 Error. That kind of sucks. What can I do to fix this?

The instructions were update recently and must be followed explicitly for the fix to stick. http://support.gametap.com/selfservice/template.do?id=1620

Re: 4109 Error Description - The Real Story
Today I’ve begun having problems with this 4109 error. I have been through every troubleshooting step that has been mentioned on the forums. Reset the drivers, checked to make sure X and Y weren’t mapped by another program, and nothing has worked. I did follow the directions carefully, and I did so more than once just to be certain I had gotten it right when it didnn‘t work the first time around. I even went as far as to completely uninstall/reinstall the player with no results. As of now the only games that work are the browser ones, such as Sonic the Hedgehog. I went ahead an submitted a log. It is Hotpink-311 EDIT:

I tried voom's suggestion and it worked for me as well. Puzzle Quest is loading now. I'll experiment with other games just to make sure everything is in working order. Also, sorry about the double post earlier. It wasn't intentional...

I went ahead and followed those instructions, and it appeared to work. But I went back today (without rebooting my computer) and I'm getting 4109 again. That's the fix with the driver utility, right? Is there any other possible solution? All this rebooting is a bit of a pain.

Is there no known fix here? Should I just submit a support ticket?

 My solution in 32-bit Vista
I recall reading that one solution was to run your browser in Administrator mode - for several reasons which should hopefully be painfully obvious, that's a non-starter.
However, I did remember that running the old Gametap player in admin mode solved a lot of incompatibility problems, so I thought maybe that might help.
Step-by-step, my solution:
With the "My Games" list up, I opened the Windows Task Manager. I right-clicked "GameTapPlayer" and clicked "Open File Location". Then I right-clicked "GameTapPlayer.exe" (I have Vista set to show extensions; others might just see "GameTapPlayer"), clicked Properties, went to the Compatibility tab, and turned on "Run this program as an administrator".
With that setting on, I no longer see 4109 errors.
It's a kludge, though; every time I go to a new GameTap game page, I get a UAC warning. No idea how to get that squared away.
In short: the problem still needs work, but I can get the games running if I'm willing to jump through some hoops.

Re: 4109 Error Description - The Real Story
The latest patch included a permanent built-in fix for this issue. Anyone still experiencing a 4109 error can create a new post or submit their logs and service request. Instruction for this can be found at the top of this forum under "Technical Support Options"
