Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
Lunchtime Tournament = PST Eveningtime Easy Button, unreasonable for EST. Please do away with lunch time tournaments for good and do like this Grimm tournament every day! Even tic-tac-toe is fun when you add a high scores table, and prizes, heh...

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
the lunchtime tourneys are all free browser based games so not gonna be able to do them as a part of it. after seeing that there is some interest in more Grimm tourneys though i will try to get something going in '09. i am hoping to get a few random leaderboard events I have been wanting to do for a while going after the holidays so keep an eye out

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
This week's Monday all day leaderboard tournament was Xevious, you might be mixing it up with that.

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
I just realized something though, people who have the high scores could have gotten that score playing over months at a time before hand since it posts your same best scores every time you quit the game right? Or is a temporary score reset for tournaments? I also realized something else, with the speed the client downloads at I should have predownloaded it months ago, guess I'll just have to catch the 8th day...

PS- I'm just interested in more every day tournaments and at reasonable times, maybe 3pm-12am.

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
I was kind of worried about that when I noticed the tournament the day it started. Luckily, apparently nobody was expecting the tournament to come up or something, so nobody had tried too hard in advance to get perfect scores. If anyone had, they'd be instantly ready to press the win button more or less when it came up. I'll be prepared just in case another grimm tournament comes up in the future, that's for sure!
I have to agree with the 3pm-12am tournaments, regardless of what it is, as well. They work very nicely with my sleep habits, I'm almost never awake during lunchtime hours.
Oh, about these points I've been earning in this tournament. I'm assuming they're savable between events considering the cost of that keyboard, but do they ever expire or anything?

I was definitely caught unawares a day late. =P
You have to beat your best time by at least one second to be able to post a Grimm tourney score, so don't make your score too perfect in advance.

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
Unfortunately the scoring issue is a part of how Grimm works and wont be able to get changed. It kind of limits the reuse of the games for tournaments for now.
There will definately be some more night and full day tournaments coming but just not in the next few weeks yet. Gotta get the prizes and stuff ready and the points balanced before I can flood the system with so many new ways to get points.
The points dont expire at any point or anything so dont worry about that.

It's not letting me post my time on the leader board. It did the first time I played through, but then never again...

Then I kept re trying and I could never get that far again, except I did get to the last rope again in 1 minute then I fell once more. After about 5 more tries and 15 minutes spent I decided to quit and play Psychonauts.
Grimm tournaments are an exercise in frustration. I spent a little over an hour on the last scene of Iron John thinking I could lower my score on scene 6 by at least 5-10 seconds by making a run without mistakes. When I finally succeeded it lowered my score by 2 seconds. The really sad part is that I think I might have won that round if I focused my effort on scene 4 instead.
Oh, and congratulations are due to Foxzeta for winning the tournament. At this point his point lead is big enough that he doesn't even have to compete tonight to win. You put up some damn good times, especially on Iron John and the Pied Piper.

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
Thanks, and good game to you as well, you put up a very tough challenge to beat each time! It wasn't easy finding ways to overcome your own crazy scores, and I'm sure part of it had to due with luck on those levels with a ton of NPCs to convert, like the squirrels in the forest in Iron John. Sometimes they'd just all be in the right place and save you a ton of time you'd usually spend chasing them around.

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
I don't mean to sound like a broken record but I still can't post my scores for this tournament today. All the previous times it automatically brought up a post window when I exited the game. Is there a force way to post your score?...

The secret to the last level was butt stomps. Butt stomp both sides of the starting room and you're already in the pipes. Get out of the pipes, butt stomp both sides again and you're already at vile.
Lol, look at my current score for A Christmas Carol. I have half a mind not to change it!

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
I'm seconding Codeguru's problem now that I've tried posting a score a second time. Nothing's happening now that i've posted once, all other scores simply don't let me try to enter when I exit the game. Something's definately up.

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
Can't edit my posts in this thread anymore for some reason.
In addition, that something is probably the fact that scores are going backwards in Gametap itself. Unlike here on the site where I am in second, in Gametap I'm almost in last place! It probably thinks less is worse, when it is in fact better.
I was gonna win anyway, but this round's all screwed up!

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
people are still looking into the issue with only posting 1 score. i am trying to think of something to compensate for the fact that this round is busted since who knows what the final standings would of been.

Re: 8 Days of Grimm Tournament
You wouldn't have if people could have posted better scores, I'm afraid. As much as I like my 777, I would have caught up to you if I had been able to post again. I'm sure lorben and deathwarden would have as well, among others.

Wish I knew that a few days ago. Took me 15 minutes to rerun the scene well enough to put up a new 1st place score.
