 Alien Swarm
As you all probably know, Alien Swarm is free on Steam. It is a "sequel" to the DOS game Alien Breed. A top-down shooter with a good amount of potential.

 Re: Alien Swarm
1. The community for the most part sucks. It's a CO-OP game full of one man armies (or so they think)
2. The implementation is AWESOME.
3. The immersion factor is great. Dark spots + eeerrraaaarg = Incoming spawn!
4. The entire campaign will last you maybe 2 hours. This is varied by difficulty and squad makeup but they have left the door open for more missions which I am hoping they implement in the future.
A solid game overall with hopes of future "expansions". My only gripe aside from the community (free will is a biatch eh) is that the campaign is so short which is why I hope for more in the future.

 Re: Alien Swarm
downloaded it, played the tutorial, put it aside. I might get back to it, but probably not any time soon.

I'm having a blast with it... it is pretty great, especially for the price. Gotta second that the pub action is to be avoided though... at least on anything above easy. Grab a few friends though, and it's all sorts of entertaining.

I dominated everything with a random assortment of people on hard. You just need to stick to your assigned direction and help others when they need it.

 Re: Alien Swarm
It is definitely possible to play public on insane. You just have to stick around while the crappy players quit your game and the good ones stay and eventually you get a good team. The mix of people seems to go something like this..out of five players, two will be morons, two will know what their doing and one will start stupid but figure it out after a bit. I love playing as Vegas with the power glove. On insane the stranded four legged things explode with one hit,it's like being Bruce Lee. And the tech rifle with auto-aim is great at killing the little parasite and flying things. Throw in the PDW(the duel auto-pistol thing) for quickly mowing down the mobs and big guys and you have all your bases covered.

 Re: Alien Swarm
I'm pissed. I launched the game and it froze my computer at the opening screen. When I tried to shut down, it essentially "locked" my computer. It acted like it was shutting down but never actually shut down and now nothing happens when I hit the power button. The little green light flashes briefly but it won't start up. My router seems to think it's still on but there's no signal to my monitor and none of my peripherals work. It won't shut down and it won't start up. It won't do anything now. So I've had it in the shop for the past 4 days. They said it would take 5-10 days to diagnose the problem. I know it probably has nothing really to do with Steam but since it happened after the game froze I'm blaming them. So now I'm going out of my mind with boredom. You don't really realize how much you depend on your computer until you don't have it.

 Re: Alien Swarm
In order of favorites it would have to be
#1. Jaeger (Laser Trip Mines X3 = Win) #2. Vegas (For Jac's reason) #3. Bastille (Adrenaline Boost)
