Eidos has lost the licensing rights for Commandos Strike Force and Imperial Glory. and unfortunately as a result these 2 games will be leaving the service today.

Lame, Imperial Glory was one of the few RTS/T I played.

Will you guys be trying to get them back, or are they gone forever?

At least I still have Total Overdose. I'll be mad as hell if that game is removed too

After dropping Empire: Total War (because it was just plain unplayable), now where am I going to get my 18th-19th century fixes!?

I hope you'll try to get Imperial Glory back, and maybe with a revised contract so we get it with all the patches and stuff.

I had just downloaded the game did not even get a chance to play it. Hope this is not something that goes on all the time.

The whole industry is working on new, different, and efficient ways of getting more money from the consumer, so the short answer is yes, this goes on all the time.

Whats up with all of these games being removed lately? We are paying customers right? Is this a trend that going to continue to happen to eventually all of the games on Gametap? Are some games going to be added back on eventually? Whats up with this trend? This is the kind of thing that makes people turn away from sites such as Gametap for their gaming needs. Unfortunately, this trend looks like it is going to be the norm at Gametap or am I wrong about this? I hope that I end up being wrong about this in the end.

The posts states Eidos lost the distribution rights. There's upheaval across the industry now and rights are changing hands a lot. Paying GT doesn't neccisarily mean they can keep the rights for certian games.

You are correct in that it will be the norm, but it seems you are placing blame in the wrong place. It would be the same for any service similar to GameTap, assuming the service wanted to stay legal. If we're lucky, the new rights holder for <insert removed game here> will grant GameTap permission to continue using the game, and it will be reinstated.

Hopefully we are lucky... Commandos Strike Force was a very, very fun game... I was hoping to play through it again, but it shall not happen...

As it's not my problem who has the rights. it's my problem who I am paying my money to. Gametap needs to re-secure the rights to the games it has advertised and taken our money for. Try buying the premium package for cable and then have your provider tell you that they don't have HBO anymore. While still charging the same rates. For example.

Well, but it's not as if we've only lost titles. See our new contract with Ubisoft, for example. We also have a couple new contracts that we'll be announcing very shortly that I think people will be pleased with.

This has actually happened. When Viacom pulled the rights for all of their stations from one of the major satallite distributers, they couldn't air them until the rights were back. The rates however didn't change.
I'm sure GT will do what they can to resecure the rights, but if a company makes it economically unfeasable....

If you expect a lower cost for games we've lost it sounds like you're also advocating a price increase with every game we add as well, that hardly sounds appealing.

SouthPeak Games (I loved Two Worlds and I am looking forward to the expansion. You have Two Worlds on Metaboli so I am crossing my fingers.)

Deep Silver (Risen looks amazing and Sacred 2 would be a great addition)

JoWood (I love the Gothic Series)

1C Publishing (I love Kings Bounty and Space Rangers 2. The developer Katauri is absolutely amazing.)

These are all publishers that I have seen games from on Metaboli or Gametap so I am hoping that negotiations are actively taking place. They also have great RPGs that I think would really help out after Baldurs Gate and such was removed.

Is there any place on the site that lists who you have contracts with? I saw that Metaboli did that on their site and I really like it. I also think it would be really cool if your featured area was expanded for every partner.

We actually have contracts with all of those publishers except Deep Silver.

Are those contracts the equivalent of Ubisoft and THQ or are they more limited? I guess another way of saying: Will more of their games or any of their newer games be coming out for Unlimited Play as part of the contract?

It happens. Gametap is still a great value though and it doesn't appear to me like they are slacking about bringing us more games to play.

I will miss Imperial Glory, as it was quite challenging to win at and well designed.

Except for XIII century death, imperial glory was on of the reasons i paid to come here.....big bummer.... we need silent hunter 3 also
