 Custom Maps For Unreal/UT
This does seem a little far fetched, so I can imagine it taking some time, but since the recent (and I just wanna say "THANK YOU SO MUCH!" for adding) addition of Unreal Gold/UT package came with the Unreal Editor, I was thinking how freakin' cool it would be to have a moderated upload system where hobbyist level-designers like myself and many of my friends, or anyone else who'd like to create their own level(s) could exploit. Maybe even throw in a ranking and/or categorization, and/or user review system (which I wouldn't mind moderating myself, since the submissions would most likely need to be checked to see if they work properly/etc).
I do not know how GT works, but if I am guessing correctly, perhaps the maps could be placed into the game via an update or maybe a plugin?
Just an idea, heh. I really do think that an addition like this could open a whole new avenue though.

GameTap's current encryption scheme prevents you from adding maps and mods to UT. We are currently working on implementing a new type of encryption that will allow you to do just that.

Will this be put on all games? or just UT/games that have (un?)official mods? And if this new encryption doesn't work right,or only allows a few mods, someone may be able to make a "mod folder" mod so we can put all of our mods into a folder and the game would read them.

 Re: Custom Maps For Unreal/UT
From what I've heard in other posts, the plan is to roll out Yummy for all games over time. Since it also includes 64 bit support. But there's no ETA on that. Personally I hope they start with teh big moddable games (like unreal.) Originally I'd have said "Baulder's Gate 2" as well (for save file stuff.) But that's not going to work out

 Re: Custom Maps For Unreal/UT
We'll work backwards from the most popular to the least and hopefully we'll have a bunch already encoded for the Yummy roll out . I'm unsure whether all games will be re-encoded, for example Yummy encryption isn't necessarily needed for Stand O' Food.

 Re: Custom Maps For Unreal/UT
Just to check my understanding here - are you saying that GT is finally starting to roll over (game by game albeit) to a system of encryption that has 64-bit support?!?

Actually I beleive that's the plan for when Yummy rolls out, but it's not rolling yet.

Yes,but they will ether corrupt the game and you will have to redownload,or they will be gone next game start. EDIT: Will Yummy support Windows 7 32 bit?
