 Fallout licensing issues?
This little bit of information came down the pipeline yesterday... http://www.gamespot.com/news/6217290.htmlGoing to quote a section here... " GameTap, Good Old Games (aka GOG.com), and Valve Software's Steam service are all named as outlets which sold Fallout products without any permission from Bethesda, in violation of the licensing agreement." [emphasis added] Long story short, Bethesda wants to put a chokehold on Interplay selling their games. If the suit is ruled in Bethesda's favor, that may not bode well for the games being available here. So if you were just sitting around, wondering about playing one of the Fallout games, you may want to go ahead and do that now.

 Re: Fallout licensing issues?
Somehow this feels just like Bethesda's making an easy ploy for cash. If Interplay's licensing of the Fallout games that they themselves created weren't legal I doubt that all 3 companies (Gametap, GOG, Steam) would have agreed to it.

 Re: Fallout licensing issues?
This would be bad for me. I seriously want to get into the first two Fallout games, but I just couldn't without a walkthrough. If I could somehow get into it, then I would play it a lot more often. If they are going to indeed get taken off GT, then I would be upset.
Fallout COULD get on GT as well as all of the Elder Scrolls games IF Bethesda would get on board, but then again, some of GT's top tier executives would have to collaborate with them. IF they do agree, I expect GT's quality to skyrocket.

It is unfortunate, since Bethesda doesn't seem to show much interest in distributing the old games. Maybe this will show them people still want to play the original Fallout titles. It's like they never considered making Fallout 3 would interest their fan base in the series' history.

All fallout games are DRM free in the GT store. If you feel any uncertainties, I'd recommend grabbing them while you can and keep them forever.

 Re: Fallout licensing issues?
Besthesda may still be angry about the failure of the MMORPG. I have to admit, selling Fallout IP outright was probably stupid of Interplay. That being said, I'm not sure what they want out of it. Perhaps this is really just to save any profits made. According to the article Interplay is Over $2Mil in debt, if Bethesda gets those profits, Interplay would be able to go under without "losing" any money and get absorbed by Bethesda.
The Biggest problem though is probably that IIRC at least one of those websites had the rights to the Fallout games before Bethesda bought the IP lot. I'm not exactly sure how that would effect anything.
