 Game Removal Update
As I mentioned in a previous thread, the Sega games had been in flux for a while, and unfortunately, that is coming to an end. As of this Thursday, Sept. 2, the Sega games will be removed. This will also include all non-Sega games on Sega platforms.
At the same time, we will also be losing our games from the following publishers: Evryware Intellivision Konami Taito
I will update this post with the full game list and more information as I receive it.

175 more games removed. May as well dump the remaining arcade and Atari titles. jac1002 wrote: Its official,Gametap sucks now. | | |

 Re: Game Removal Update
Wow, I am speechless.... This is huge. I see some hate posts coming this way when these games are removed, and even more people just leave. This should have been sent out as an announcement as it affects everyone on the service. Seriously, that almost a quarter of the 64 bit only games and almost completely wipes out the classic subscriber's catalog by a third. I'm sure this was inevidable though, but might be the beginning of the end for this service unless drastic steps are taken. (lowering subscriptions, more features, more premium games, something...) I'd really hate to see Gametap tank, but it's not looking good at this point.

A few titles were inadvertently left off the big list when I first posted it. I have now corrected it to include them.

 Re: Game Removal Update
Ever since I started my account All gametap has done is remove games and replace some of them with games that aren't worth playing. Not everybody likes RPGS and real time strategy. I can think of a few things gametap can do. Make everything and I mean everything in the catalog 64 bit compatible immediately. For new games give us more action and shooters. If you remove anymore games remove the ones that aren't worth playing and keep the good games. I am not happy with this removal.

Wow, that's a lot of games. Unfortunately, several of them I was hoping to get around to playing eventually. It would have been easier to list what GT wasn't losing.

 Re: Game Removal Update
I think it's time they offer a 'Windows games only' rate that costs a few dollars less than the premium. It's one thing to force us all to pay for the browser games, but it's quite a lot worse if you can't at least keep the # of classic titles from plummeting, regardless of whose fault it is for the removal...

I agree with the above posts. That is a lot of games to be removed. I also find it a little weird that we were notified on such short notice because I definitely wanted to play a few of the games being removed.

I agree with TheMaster, above. If there's not some huuuuge game motherlode coming in September (or at least an announcement of one) I will probably not be here come October.

 Re: Game Removal Update
Wow. Just wow. I am really starting to wonder how close to going down Gametap is. I know you are bringing in games and some of them are pretty new, but such a gigantic chunk of games leaving with so little warning is a bad, bad sign. Coupled with the severely disappointing customer service and the nearly universal hatred of the removal of the client, it doesn't look good.
A warning would have been nice, like others said. I do understand that you guys don't always know ahead of time, but something this big should have had some warning. I would have played a few of those quickly and now have no chance.
I didn't spend time playing a lot of those, I mean it is nearly 200 games and even I don't have that much time. Some of those are incredibly good games and their loss is a big hit to the catalog.
Kind of wondering if I should renew my subscription, the yearly bill is coming up and I am not sure if Gametap will even make it for a whole year.
Lets hope this is just doom-saying and not true.

 Re: Game Removal Update
Just to add a counter point here, I signed up to play PC games, not retro console and arcade titles so, this removal doesn't really affect me all that much. Still though, this is one HUGE dent in the library!

 Re: Game Removal Update
Ditto here. Though i dabbled in the classics a few times, they were not my motivation for joining. Even when there was only 3 64-bit games.
Since the "classic pack" is probably not irrelevant, are those subscribers going to be given the choice to get grandfathered into full membership at the same price? Seems only fair...
You can blame Xbox Live for the Sega removal, they are beginning to sell the games I hear on the console.

More action more shooters.......wow if Metal Slug and the SNK games go I'm out. I have been a staunch defender of Gametap......this makes me so angry.

 Re: Game Removal Update
With all due respect GT did give notice a few months back....but it seemed like they were trying to make a "deal" with Sega which I guess now fell apart. Going to miss ya Sonic, Ecco, Ristar, GUNSTAR HEROES to say the least. I hope for GT's sake they are planning a bombardment of cool games tomorrow to replace the games they just lost. I know without a doubt at least half the GT staff when this was announced went, "Oh Hell nah, here comes a ****storm from the GT community." All I can say is.....D'oh..............................

 Re: Game Removal Update
I for one would just be happy if they gave us a straight-forward explanation. I mean, is Metaboli intentionally trying to tank the Gametap service, or are they just trimming it down to a carbon copy of their service overseas?

Retro games seem to be migrating to the consoles/handhelds at an increasing rate, so GT will likely be more like Metaboli eventually regardless.
