Did you change your default download directory?

 Re: Games gone after update.
Skyman try looking for the following folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GameTap\games see if there are any folders in there. Try copying pasting anything from that folder to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GameTap Web Player\games After doing that I closed my browser and started a new session, and my games came back.

 Re: Games gone after update.
Ok after initially thinking that I gotten fixed, I figured out by looking at the my games screen that the games appear as 100% downloaded, but do not appear on the my desktop games tab. Is there another directory I should copy and paste these to or am I just out of luck?

 Re: Games gone after update.
I tried to move files to the web folder... 44gigs worth... what a hassle, plus the games still didn't show up... I hope moving them didn't screw me in the long run... I did nothing to change a default directory before the plug-in or after. This is something that has occured BECAUSE of the new plug-in

I'm having the same issue. Everything is gone after the latest update. Is there a fix for it?

I need to know if you've ever changed your default download directory. Anyone experienceing this, it would also be helpful if you could send me the following C:\Program Files\GameTap Web Player\bin\release\ local.configexported GameTap registry info To get registry info open regedit, in regedit open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE, then right click on TGN, Inc. and select export. E-Mail these to gametaplogs@gmail.com

No I havent changed anything. Now there are 2 directories after todays "fix." Theres a Gametap directory and a Gametap Web Player directory.
Here's my support handle. Green-883

 Re: Games gone after update.
If you use a different download directory than the default (like me), your local.config will be overwritten by this update.
Which I personally think is poor coding standards.

 Re: Games gone after update.
Just FYI, if you had GT prior to the Plug in launch, you'd have two directories. I've had GT installed since 1.5 and can attest to the fact that there are 2 in my program files now (but I'm seeing this bug.) New games get downloaded to the "Web player" directory, but your old games stay in the "GT directory."

 Re: Games gone after update.
Same issue here. All of my games are gone. It is not reading the installed folders, and even clicking on the Download button to download them again does not work. The browser just sits. And no, just like everyone else with this problem, I have not changed the default download directory. It isn't our fault, it's the plug-in we/I installed 30 seconds ago. Registry info export has been sent to the address below as you requested. Hopefully this can be resolved quickly. In the mean time, I'm off to rant in the forums and blow off some steam since the last hour I had before work to unwind has been wasted by more untested code.

I love the fact that we were able to play before todays update but somehow "we" did something to mess it up.

I'm having the same issue. Never changed any default directories or anything. I've had Gametap since the days of the standalone gametap program and made it through that web player transition without issue, but the most recent update apparently wiped my games list. I'll see if I can send those requested files also.

 Re: Games gone after update.
Maybe the game app uses a new default location. From the local.config, I saw "{$home}/../../" (or something similar), which seemed like an odd location.
Check your local.confg.old to see what the old directory was and put that in local.config (after making sure the gameplayer is not running with task manager).
I use a different directory and had to update my local.config, and now it's working fine.
You would think they'd test these things.

If this is true, then yes, it's a rotten way to do it, and I would appreciate instructions for correcting it. Currently, I have: <add key="OSSharedData" value="C:/ProgramData/GameTap Web Player/" /> <add key="MigratedOSSharedData" value="D:/Games/GameTap/" /> I'm guessing I need to shut down the player, any games, and the browser, edit the OSSharedData value, and restart. Correct?

 Re: Games gone after update.
You shouldnt have to do any of that. Whats upsetting is that Gametap wont take responsiblity for this issue. I would love a post from an admin saying they realize this is an issue with todays update and they are working on fixing it.
Curious, what directory do games download to by default? I cant seem to find them anywhere. I am using Windows Vista.

You only have to do that if you want to change the location where games are stored. By default I think they're stored in a folder in the Applicaiton Data folder. Meanwhile, LC (an admin) saind: [quote="LittlestCthulhu I need to know if you've ever changed your default download directory. I think that means they see an issue, probably related to the update, but it's not affecting everyone (hence why they need the inofrmation) E-Mail these to gametaplogs@gmail.com[/quote]

 Re: Games gone after update.
Wow, I've noticed a lot of people whining. As far as I'm concerned it's a simple fix, and yes GameTap should test it to make sure it's perfect, but we all (hopefully) know that mistakes are made once in a while, so suck it up... Anyways, chances are the update changed your storage directory. So you check your default directory (C:\ProgramData\GameTap\games) to see if you have several folders (Pretty sure each folder represents a game). Then you follow this: http://support.gametap.com/selfservice/ ... .do?id=348to reassign your directory to it's default, and ta-da! Not sure if it works for everyone, but it definitely worked fine for me.

Yeah, where "once in a while" = "every single day, for 6 weeks". If it works for you, that's wonderful, but it gives you no right to come in and insult the rest of us (as if it were our fault). Thanks for the helpful suggestion, next time, just post that part.
