Hey kids it's GameTap's 4th birthday and we're celebrating with a bunch of 64-bit back catalog releases. You can redownload any of the following games to update to the new version. Also 11 of these titles will be free all weekend, so invite some friends to check it out.

If you don't know, probably not worth worrying about.

Just think. 32 bit games, 64 bit games. What do you think?

just think? i ask a simple question and these are the type of responses i get? here's what i think. there is nothing more pathetic than a computer nerd who thinks he's superior to somebody else just because he doesn't know about the intricate inner workings of the computer as good as he does.

Woah now, try not to get so worked up, these are pretty standard forum responses to a simple question so you should probably not let it get to you so much. In this case, 64 bit most likely refers to the people who run windows vista as opposed to windows xp or an even earlier version. That's the simple answer anywho.

to sminelly, thanks for that info. you're right i shouldn't let it get to me. i heard that vista really blew big so i had dell make my computer downgraded to xp, i hope that wasn't a mistake, i mainly got it for empire total war anyways.

Windows can be installed with 32-bit or 64-bit versions. The big difference in the 2 is the amount of RAM it lets your computer use. Many new computers come with the 64-bit version of Windows installed which previously made it incompatible with GameTap's PC games.

As a 32-bit Windows users you will see some benefit from these updates as well like faster downloads, fewer errors, ability to mod games and backing up your save games.

to LittlestCthulhu, thanks man, now it even begins to make sense to a guy whose technical skills consisted mainly of blowing into the bottom of a sega genesis cartridge if it didn't work, or flipping my playstion one upside down as a last resort.

Let's see talk about all the gametap updates shall we?
You can no longer instant message gamers
You can no longer challenge gamers
You cannot play lag-free games
You can no longer post your leaderboard scores
You can no longer easily search for games
You can no longer host tournaments
The truth, that will be covered up.
