 GameTap player looping installation issues.
Hello, If you are experiencing difficulty's installing the GameTap player namely getting the looping installation issue, please follow some of these guidelines. 1. Disable UAC (User Account Control) during the installation process, details on how to do this can be found here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... -on-or-off 2. Run your browser as an administrator. If your Windows user account is an administrator, then you're good to go. If not, you'll need to close your browser, right click on the browser shortcut, and choose Run as Administrator. 3. Make sure that your AV/Firewall is not set to maximum or is not flagging the player binaries as false positives; ideally add the player executable to the exceptions list. Please consult your Av/Firewall software for information on adding exceptions or you can check our support page here http://support.gametap.com/selfservice/ ... p.do?id=38 4. Make sure that the browser security level is not set to the maximum on IE (which prevents any action). How to change security settings in IE http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... y-settings5. Add *.gametap.com to your browser's list of Trusted Sites. * In Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security tab -> click Trusted Sites zone -> click Sites button. From there you can add *.gametap.com. Be sure to uncheck the Require Server Verification checkbox before you click Close. * In Firefox, go to Tools -> Options -> Security tab -> click Exceptions next to "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons". From there you can add *.gametap.com to the list. 6. Make sure that the “Yummy Games Player” Plugin has been installed properly. In Firefox -> Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > Yummy Games Player 1.0.8.1 In IE -> Tools > Manage Add-ons > Toolbars and Extensions > Yummy Interactive Inc (IEProxyformcontrol Yummy Interactive Inc Enabled *Date of last update* Version number currently 1.0.0.0) 7. In Internet Explorer, if the installer is not triggered when you login, your ActiveX may not be enabled. To see if ActiveX is functioning properly, please run the diagnostic here. If you still experience problems after following the steps above please contact support advising what you have done and attach your system specifications. Many thanks Viio

I have reinstalled it maybe over 20 times and it still does this but still installs but hangs, there was a post a while ago with info on this but nothing worked *sigh* is there any info Meta you can give me that might help? BTW I have windows 7 64bit and I use Firefox

I'll try to see when i'll be at work Metaviio has forgotten to say that we're working on a better and more stable player now that we identified some of the problems. It won't still be perfect, only better

I had this problem when IE decided to jack up my secruity settings so I didn't have the option to install ActiveX controls, it was already installed but it seemed to cause a conflict, I just turned them down and I haven't had the problem since.

Re: GameTap player looping installation issues.
There must have been a server change on the Gametap/Metaboli end. I've had Gametap for about 4 years and have not had any major or lasting issues until this past week. I haven't made any change to my PC prior to the issues beginning. All my drivers are up to date. My hardware will handle every game offered. My broadband connection is suffient. I've tried every recommendation listed in the forums for workarounds and fixes, but no luck. My OS is Vista, and I have a paranoid feeling that whatever Gametap has changed on their end affects Vista users (I haven't proof of this however, other than that I suspect their changes would naturally be geared to service Windows 7 clients).
My problem appeared overnight. I was playing with no trouble last Saturday 12/4 and on Sunday 12/5 my downloaded games disappeared completely. I unintalled the Gametap player and reinstalled. Some, but not all, of the games reappeared, some in the downloaded section, some in the waiting to download section. The "downloaded" ones were not downloaded at all; when I hit play they simply started downloading. I decided only to redownload 5 of the games, the ones I was activally playing, for reasons of time. I was able to play them again and I thought the problem was solved, albeit it was quite inconvenient.
All was good until Wednesday, 12/15, when my downloaded games had, once again, disappeared. I uninstalled and reinstalled, the games reappeared. This time, however, they were unlaunchable. Attempts to play resulted in the neverending green circle that so many other here complain about. I tried to redownload, same result. I tried to download other games, particularly games of few mgs, same green circle problem. I tried all the suggestions mentioned in the forums; the result: another cleared and empty downloaded games list.
I truly hope you will consider taking your site down for maintenance, as the problem is clearly on your end. Making a customer troubleshoot their own computer is very poor service; most customers do not have technical knowledge and are not going to be able to follow technical intructions, nor should they have to. I understand that with the multitude of PC configurations out there that sometimes a user-end fix is the only resort, but that is unlikely the case if the PC has operated your service without problems until a specific and identifiable date.
Instead to spending any more time troubleshooting (which I never enjoy one bit and always gives me a headache), I am going to stop visiting Gametap for a couple weeks in hopes that will give you some to time to fix the issue. I honestly have loved the Gametap service and would be happy to subscribe for years to come. I've never run out of games to play and the new offerings are nicely chosen. Thanks for reading this post.

Re: GameTap player looping installation issues.
yep I am a Staunch Defender of GT I like it a lot better than say steam lol but one reason I still stick with GT is that its still a great service even with this Painkiller launching problem! I have a rant about no Freespace =( lol but I understand that. Maybe being supportive seems like sucking up but for me I truly love this Service!

Re: GameTap player looping installation issues.
Hi Guys, I understand your frustration about Painkiller Overdose, and I have Investigated all over and its a simple case the game will not run in Windows 7 and I am sure I have told you this before. Also seeing that most of you here have posted all are using Win 7 and this confirms this. Check here for some comments http://forums.techarena.in/video-games/1316640.htmWhich is not the only place that says PK:OD does not run on Win 7. I am sorry but we do state on the game description that it is only for Windows 2000/Xp and currently Vista testing. If you got any further questions please ask me. Thanks

Re: GameTap player looping installation issues.
Yes, Painkiller doesn't work officially with Win7 but it can works. It's like lottery \o/
Do you have tried to launch the game in the Windows XP Compatibiilty ? Go to the painkilleroverdose\Bin and set the option "Run as Windows XP" for "Painkiller.exe" and "Overdose.exe".
If it still doesn't work, try with the Yummy Player files in C:\Program Files\GameTap Player

Re: GameTap player looping installation issues.
Hi, I was on here last night and was playing a game and everything was working fine. Well today i got on here to go play a game and it wont work. I go to my games and it just keeps showing that green loading circle and wont pop up my games. Ive logged off and logged back on, restarted my browser and it still does the same thing. I was just wondering if someone could please help me out with an idea of what might be wrong or does it half to do with what this forums about or something?

Re: GameTap player looping installation issues.
^^^^^ Maybe the player's processes are being blocked now for some reason. Best way to check that is to start task manager (Ctl-Alt-Del) and make sure the YProxMainForm and YProxAutLauncherMain programs are running. If they aren't, the player isn't starting for some reason (Windows Firewall setting or antivirus setting changed?) Rebooting the PC if you don't normally can fix this issue, also. I don't want to suggest the plugin reinstall unless all else fails..

Re: GameTap player looping installation issues.
Hmmm.. I uninstalled it and it won't pop up the thing to re download it now. I even logged out and restarted my browser. It won't even pop up the green loading circle either. I've checked my firewalls and everything before i uninstalled it and it seemed to be allowing it thru so i just figured id try reinstalling everything n still nothing. The only thing i kept were my games cause it asked if i wanted to save em or delete them. I've even tried a diff browser and uninstalling mozilla n reinstalling it and nothing. I've also restarted my computer and my internet connection and also no change. So i really don't think it has to do with my computer. But i'm not sure cause if it was the site you'd think more ppl wld be having this problem. I mean its just weird.

Re: GameTap player looping installation issues.
^^^^^^ Yeah, I'm still confused by this. I thought that AVG was blocking it since you had seen the trojan alert for the plugin, but not even an uninstall of AVG corrected it. Since your Internet explorer is displaying a message that ActiveX isn't running, it could well be that he security settings are set too high. I tested the theory in IE, and I get the same as you when I go to "My Games". Firefox does stay on the blank page for about 5 seconds or so for me, but then the games come up. Not sure if it's this site or a security issue, but thanks for trying all you did last night.
Namely #3 and #5 is the two things we did not cover.

Re: GameTap player looping installation issues.
Yeah im very confused by this too. I just lowered every security level on my computer and browsers and still nothing. Idk ive tried pretty much everythng ive been told to try n still nothing works. I dont get it. Metaviio i have uninstalled it that way still nothing. C_eddy5 and i tried for hours last night to get it working everythng we tried didnt make any difference. Ive done a system restore that didnt change anything at all. Im stumped on this situation. How can something be working great one time and you go back on and it wont work at all. Like i said i did a system restore and that should of got it working but it didnt. So i really dont know whats goin on.
