The fix is for Vista as well as XP. Did you try running it as an administrator? Remember to reboot both before and after running it.

Re: GameTap Player Update Today
For goodness sakes, guys, c'mon. This is the second time I've had to edit my registry and your config file and reboot after receiving an unhelpful and misleading error notification with a useless link (do a disk cleanup? are you serious?) because your installer has changed the file path for my games data from my D: drive to my C: drive. I can only imagine what less computer savy folks are going through. Please fix this simple bug so that every time there's an update to your plug in all my games don't show as needing to be re-downloaded. And while you're at it, please provide a quick utility for folks to repoint their game data locations without having to know how to edit registries and config files. Jeez....

Technically, they don't really support the whole registry hack thing in the first place.

I brought this up with the devs, they're looking in to it.

[quote="mag1_69361"]hay i did what u said and even uninstalled and reinstalled firefox, it just does the samething it was doing before, it downloads your updater restarts and then it installs the player and restarts just to reinstall the updater again , it's just doing the samething it was doing before, it dosent continue, just keeps downloading over and over again any help would be very cool[/quo
Hopefully you already got your problem fixed. I had the same thing happening, just rebooted my computer and hit gametap again. Got both the updates and things are working fine now.

Re: GameTap Player Update Today
Well, I've finally had time to game again, and I've just checked out the new web browser interface. It's very, VERY ugly, I must say. The windows games seem to download and work okay, but the old arcade games SUCK in the browser format. It threatened to lag twice, a problem I never had on the old system, and not being able to put it in a full screen mode is absolutely miserable. I hope you'll be able to clean this up over the next couple of months.

That's odd. I played Earthworm Jim and KOF with no problems whatsoever.

The PC (Windows) Games aren't working on my computer. Keeps saying to unmap X: and/or Y: drives. I do NOT have these drives mapped nor used by another device. I have C: D: F: G: H: I: and J: and sometimes Z: I disconnected the network drive Z: but still says the same message. DOS, Arcade, and other type games works.

Try this fix, and be sure to follow it precisely, including when to reboot: http://support.gametap.com/selfservice/ ... do?id=1620mgsweat1 wrote: i would just like to know y i have to leave my computer unprotected to play gametap i never had to before untill this update. i dont like my system to be unprotected
If you add *.gametap.com to your trusted sites list in IE then you can run it in protected mode with no issue.

If you are using Vista, when launching your browser try right-clicking the browser's .exe and select Run As Admin. Can you be more specific with the failure you're getting?

Re: GameTap Player Update Today
Check it out guys. I just downloaded the update. What happened was that it crashed out and then restarted saying that the setup files were corrupted and I'd need to jump backwards through several hoops and end up having to redownload the player/plug, which would be great, but there is no clear place to get it without undoing everything that was already done (erasing it, etc.) This forum was about to get a legendary F.U. (Fun University) type posting out of anger. But then I read some of the prior posts to see if any of my fellow gaming brethren and sistren?? had this issue. It all comes down to the reboot baby. That's like law A in PC repair followed by "reinstall the OS discs and charge them". So yeah, other than my corny little happy rant here, if it gives this kind of error, restart the PC and try to download it again. It should download, go to desktop and then require a second download (it did for me, which from what I've read is normal). Now I can play again, yay! I really didn't want to have to axe GT. I know this migration has sucked monkey sweat for everyone involved on all ends, but when faced with registry hacks and some of the other things I was reading had to be done to fix certain issues, I was an angry little Zappa fan... Off to go kill something digital, peace!

You're surprised that it worked? Or is there a problem?

Re: GameTap Player Update Today
1. Download the utility from http://img.gametap.com/kb/bin/pc_driver_reset.exe 2. Restart your computer, this is necessary to ensure all GameTap processes have ended. 3. Run pc_driver_reset.exe from your Desktop or wherever you downloaded it (In Vista 4. Right-click the .exe and click Run As Admin) 5. Go back to GameTap.com and launch a Windows game. If the game launches sucessfully, Restart your computer. Edit: I have Vista, where would I go to find .exe and click as Run As Admin? I'm still having the 4109 error code. Still unable to access any shooter, or RPG games. Thanks for your help.

Re: GameTap Player Update Today
ok it installed by firefox now but none of the games will install using firefox at all still i hate this web method has 99% of the games wont install they all say they are corrupted its way to frustating its not worth the subscription anymore for this, if i wanted to play games on a website i could do that for free on addicting games.com site or other free online website gaming sites, but i liked your gametap because of the ease in loading it up for children like my autistic 8 and 10 yr old sons, but now they cant even load the games up and like i said 99% of the games no longer work at all, i am using a dell xps730 tower a very nice one with dual video card and all my drivers are all up to date too so its not my computer i have also tried it on 4 other computers i have and this is the worst site load for a gaming site ever. you had it made with youre previous method why in the heck did you do away with that loading method as it loaded up so nicely before and was easy to scroll thru the games and easy to search for new ones, but now it wont even search for games at all for me we have to spend hours going thru a ton of them, where as before we could just scroll thru them, we hate this and i know of about 20 friends who have already quit using gametap because it sucks now. we hate it hate hate it now.

By .exe it means the program. Where did you download the driver fix program to? Go there, right-click on the driver fix program, and select "Run as Administrator".

Gametap was purcahsed by Metaboli and their model was thrust upon Gametap without sufficient testing or customer support representatives. The result is this mess of a website and a poor gaming experience.

Re: GameTap Player Update Today
Dude, I'm really getting frustrated over here. If it's not the "4109" code, it's the "4100" code. Then I get the "corrupted" message. Too many problems, and not enough gaming. I know that Gametap Administrators are up to their eyeballs, and hard at work trying to fix multiple issues. GT 4.0 has a nice lay out, the concept is good, but the problems are ticking me off. I honestly never had a major issue with GT 3.0. I'm a paying subscriber too. Dude, I'm going to order some Papa John's pizza, some cola, and watch Quantum of Solace, 007. I've had enough for one night of racking my brain trying to figure out what's wrong with GT.

What the heck is d3dx9_28.dll? Every time that I tried to play FSW 10 hammers, I received a message telling me that d3dx9_28.dll was missing, and that if I reinstalled the game it would be resolved. I resinstalled the game, with the same results.

Re: GameTap Player Update Today
Is there a way to have a choice between running our old 3.0 version, at least for a while until 4.0 is a little more friendly and some of the bugs worked out? I have cancelled my account now and the deadline for that cancellation is 5/13. If improvements happen at that time, I'll gladly pay for the service again, but for now my 6 year old son has given up on playing because he starts FarCry on the computer and has to go to lunch before he gets to play it. Redownload, then closing the browser, then rebooting, then clicking on the icon to get it to start. Rinse and repeat the next time he wants to play.
Please give us an alternative!!!!
P.S. - Notice the join date. We've put a lot of quarters in this machine. Pac-Man never had an add screen.

That looks like a DirectX file. You may need to update DirectX from Microsoft. Here's some more information on that: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerr ... ll-dll.htmlilmouse1973 wrote: Is there a way to have a choice between running our old 3.0 version, at least for a while until 4.0 is a little more friendly and some of the bugs worked out?
Unfortunately 4.0 uses different servers and infrastructure than 3.5 did, so 3.5 is unable to function any more.
