Free Games On GameTap
GameTap offers a rotating selection of free games to our users as a sample of how our service works and to allow folks to try before they buy. Every month several games are added to the free library and several games go back to the vault. In addition to this rotating line-up we offer a free game of the week, released every Thursday in tandem with our new Premium releases. You can check out our selection of free games by clicking here.

When will {game name here} be free?
If there are plans to make a game they will be posted in the New And Coming Soon thread. If you'd like to request a game you'd like to be free you can do so in the official thread. Be aware that our ability to make a game free varies depending on our agreement with the game's publisher.

Why don't you have a larger free game library?
While free games are free to you, the user, they do have a financial impact on GameTap. Our free game library is not intended to be an entertainment hub for free games but rather a free trial of our subscription service. If you enjoy playing games from our free library and would like access to more games, we offer several reasonably priced subscriptions that will give you access to our entire catalog.

Aside from the obvious flaw in this line of thinking, "if you're truly going to subscribe why do you need more free games?", the reality is GameTap has tried this kind of promotion in the past with little to no impact on the number of new subscriptions.

Have people actually said this? Back when you guys had gotten up to about 120ish free games, I was seriously thinking about canceling my subscription, simply because there was more than enough free to keep me entertained.

Sadly, several people have said "I was going to subscribe, but then you took away a bunch of free games so I decided not to". I'm not sure on what logic there is here.

When´s the next rotation gonna take place? I just started "JA2 Gold" which *may* take a little longer to finish. Losing the game in the middle of the process would be pretty >:O-y, indeed.

On the other hand, I´m considering to sign up anyway. I can keep the free stuff then, right?

Some games rotate monthly, some weekly. I think JA2 is on the monthly list.

To answer your other question though, yes, if you subscribe, then you can keep playing the free games right where you left off.

I like how they scrapped Hitman Blood Money only after one day of playing it, and replaced it with a piece of crap game I've never heard of.

There's a different special free game each week which stays on for a week. It changes out every Thursday.
