As much as I miss the old Gametap (and I do) there is nothing about Gametap worth using anymore. It's Metaboli's fault for ruining gametap and I know it hurt the Gametap community because currently there is only 210 players online right now as I am typing this. Before Gametap was ruined there was thousands of players playing Gametap each day and now it is down to under 300, that's pretty sad. The current owners of Gametap are never going to change back because they simply don't read all their complaints and if they did they would had done something years ago. Since Metaboli does not want to play ball and keep their old fanbase happy then that is their fault. They lost a pretty big chunk of that fan base, I am surprised Gametap is still in business. Not only that but the customer service is as poor as it will ever get, they hardly answer any of your help questions. They never listen to your suggestions. Did they even change Gametap at all with in the year? Did they fix any bugs or did they just find ways to make more money? Metaboli does not want to improve Gametap they just want to make as much money off it with out spending too much.

To add my two cents,

I signed for the year. I am mad at myself.

When I originally subscribed to GT, it was 2008 and the actual player was in effect. This was a good thing with almost no problems and the ones I did have were fixed through the wonderful LIVE support. A nice phone call and BAM, all of your problems are fixed.

Now we have a WEB player that does not have ANY support whatsoever. 1/3 of the games I have tried to download will not for some reason do so. 1/5 of the games I can download will crash at a certain point in the game, generally in the beginning or middle of the single player campaign. Altogether the quality of the service is crap at best and a total highway robbery at worse.

The simplest method of fixing GT would be to completely remove it.

The best thing that could happen is for another company to form it's own "Gametap" and actually not screw us, the customers, over.

At best, we can hope that this method of losing customers will inform them to at least to start listening to its customers and that with enough canceled accounts will encourage them to at least give some decent customer support.

I came back to Gametap after being gone for two years or however long it was and it's nothing like the old. Really disappointed, I understand we won't be getting the old Gametap back and it's a shame; was so much better.

I'm a returning user, and I miss the old player.

I do not like playing games on my browser.

I do not like having to keep my browser open in order to download games.

Speaking of which, the download page is very clunky, and buggy. I've had to kill the GTplayer program a handful of times, and I've only been back a couple days.

I miss the vault.

I really have to agree with this quoted statement, as well as the massive feedback from the new browser client. I got hooked onto the old GT a couple years ago, when I was still in college. They had a great selection, a great price, and an even greater interface/desktop client. I can only say the first two still apply. I have missed GT, and decided recently to start a new membership. I have only now found that we are only given the choice of a browser based client. Well... what happens if the browser crashes, ore experiences any problems of any kind? What if your internet fails? Why should I have to access my games through a website, when I could just as easily double-click on a desktop shortcut to access an easy to use game vault/library. I was on the new "system" for less than 10 minutes, and got no less than 2 script errors. I miss the days where you could scroll through the games, and filter out each by system and genre. I miss a nearly flawless and efficient 3D interface, that allowed the user to download a game, and let it run in the background while you browsed other games, or played something else in the meantime. I for one am glad that I only signed up for a month to month basis, as this may be a short-time (rather short-lived) commitment. GT had something great, and then blew it by trying to integrate a system that is only sufficient for old Dos games.

We do not need a tray client. I don't like the current implementation either, but that isn't the solution.

im back to play a few games for a month. was hoping something like the old client would be waiting for me. good luck with your tray icon lol and good job ruining your company.

Totally agree with Samurai.......miss beginning able to scroll through the Genres/consoles.

I'm getting used to the browser plugin now. Nowhere near as good as the old client we had, but it's been running stable enough for me to easily get $10/month out of. The new GameTap prioritizes PC games first, and that's what I've been looking for lately.

I got in to gametap right before the buyout and was gonna subscribe but the web player is certainly not worth it to me.

What I suggest as a way to make gametap as big as it was or even bigger is to bring back the player, make an advertising campaign (not too expensive) about how gametap "is back", have either a few free games or a 1 month trial so people can see if they like it (people are more willing to buy a game if they like the demo) but that's just my 2 cents.

If we ever get back the functionality gametap had I promise I will subscribe for a year day one.

ok, I dont care that gametap sucks now. I dont even care that there are an insane amount of advertisements. Im just disgusted that I can no longer find my favorite game. I'll describe it and if anyone can remember the name i need it. It was a turn based strategy rpg game. One of the main characters was on a flying horse. There were two campaigns one was humans and the other was demons. I have a feeling there was the word Hero in the title. If anyone knows it please reply.

I've had gametap for a month now, after coming back from several years ago. (I originally left because of the client change- 3 years later, it sucks just as bad)

You would think they would have managed to fix their mistake in 3 years.. guess not.

the reason i miss the old player is the new player is constantly broke, and at this moment i cant even us it, and when i do get it to work i have to run through all sorts of hoops to get it to work, it is completely rediculas and i have cancelled my subscription because of it, and more than likely i will do the same after this month. There is no excuse for this Onlive uses a similar interface to the old gametap and other services like steam and even the EA service all work without many significant problems. Metaboli needs to get their heads out of their ass and develop a stand alone player, enough is enough, i am tired of this crap.
