GAMETAP EPIC FAIL

God this system is terrible. So now I can't use it on my Mac anymore, and my PC is currently giving me a 4100_us error, whatever on earth that is.

Please, give me back the player or I cancel next month.

The old system:

a) worked on my Mac
b) worked

the new system is 0 for 2. This is unacceptable. It's a good thing Gametap doesn't sign us up for yearly contracts or they'd be hit with a dozen class-action lawsuits right now.

This new system blows. And corrupting all my downloaded games was a nice touch. Thanks, Gametap. I'll be cancelling kthxbai

Not worth $9.99 a month. Not worth $9.99 a year at this rate.

You should read the terms and conditions. You can't make laws up that disregard them. GT has lined their ducks up pretty good.

GT has pretty good business practice from what I can see. It's unfortunate your having technical difficulties, everybody has it seems, it's a common thing in this era.

4100 is often low free space on your hard drive.

Yeah, I liked the OLD Gametap the best (the one with the movie channel). Not a big fan of the internet thing because it keeps wanting me to log in for everything.

I use mulitple computers - I have one computer which I play games on and I have access to other computers. When I read forums or want to reply to forums I don't want to have to install the plugin on the other computers.

Well I gave it 72 hours since new "interface" and I must say ....it sucks worse now. Get a game to play....if it lets you in between the screen jumpin with every click, "This mark represents amount of game that has to download to be able to play."....riiiight. Good goin pencil pushers. Have any of yinz geeky nerds even had the nerve/guts to step back in here to comfort any of us since the first guys complaint??? NOPE, just like the nerds in school of long ago. Run and hide from the masses. Go sharpen a pencil.
Ok thats kinda harsh. So answer this question....If you order a Steak at a restuarant, and after the first few bites realize its a good steak and keep eating it. Halfway through you eating it, the restuarant takes the steak away and gives you a hot dog in its place. Should you ask for all yer money back cause thats not what you paid for, or just eat the hot dog and take the loss? What would you do????

I think I said this before, but basically Gametap is now Metaboli with a search function.....I was hoping for more, but at least they gave us that over regular Metaboli.

Same interface...same buttons......works the same otherwise.

Old Gametap over the years had improved to the point to where it was unbelievably easy to use and manage downloads.

Metaboli....well it is what it is, and it's becoming pretty obvious that they don't like much change, even if the old system was working in some ways better than theirs.

On the bright side, Metaboli is able to get the rights to much much better games than Gametap ever was, and now the old Gametap player is not using memory in the background like it did before.

i like it. i know it has alot of bugs right now but just think that's only for now ,once it's fixed it will be awesome. i'm already ejoying the change and im having all the problems that everyone else is having and i still like it ALOT better then the player.

I agree with you on these concerns - I'm waiting to see what the parental controls are, but I don't want my kids to be able to click on ANY ads. If Gametap cannot control whats outside of their domain (which obviously they can't), then they should be able to allow us to control what is clickable on sub accounts.

I also want the option to disable forums - I don't want my kids participating in forums - no 5 or 8 year old should be perusing forums reading what people are posting.

If you are having all the problems that everyone else is having, you wouldn't be able to USE the plugin to play anything.

I tried not to update. I was fine with what I had, but I couldn't launch the player application without updating so I did. Little did I know that it was going to be in-browser! It took 7 tried to migrate my games and half of them failed to migrate! Surely I complained when many of the free games moved to Gold subscription only, but that was there choice. I respected how they wanted those people who are content with their limited number of games to get a Gold subscription. Then they moved some back to free and updated to the browser-based player. I had Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 halfway complete when it turned into CLASSIC. Now instead of Free and Gold, there's FREE, CLASSIC, and PREMIUM! Now there's only about 20 games that are free. Most of these I'll probably not even play. Not because I don't want to, but because I can't download or they won't work. See at the top of the web page where it says "BETA"? This suggests that the GameTap creators are testing their new toy while WE are getting annoyed by the insufficiency of the browser player.

Out of all my games, about 2 of them are still free: Metal Slug and Psychonauts. Psychonauts won't even finish migrating or downloading, whatever the heck it's doing.

I personally think it's better to have the application still for download instead of FORCING us to update to this browser-based player.

The new browser interface is horrible, especially for kids. My 6-yr-old doesn't want to use Gametap now. She's basically the only one who uses the service. I expect I'll be done after this subscription runs out--I'll find her games elsewhere in a more usable interface.

There was NOTHING wrong with the client interface.

It's not a question of ignoring.. the network/infrastructure/servers that the old player used are gone. It's not possible to go back.

The free games you were playing before the switch were free as a sneak preview of the Classic pack. The announcement and messaging surrounding these free games stated that they would remain free until the update.

I know this annoying, I'm in the same boat. However, I think the automated redirect to install the plugin is important for the time being due to the migration from the old player. I think once the majority of users have migrated we could turn this off.

I keep telling people, the Game tap player was sleek and shiny, never had much fault, and let you organize what you want and didn't want. Now we are reduced to this? Not ONLY that but there are errors going around left and right. If they refuse to change it back or at least FIX IT, I'll be boycotting it with you.
