as for "who" gave the 9 review scores, these guys have been pretty consistent:
http://www.gameplasma.com/reviews.php?do=view&id=474
they've reviewed each episode, progressively getting to like each new one more.

but i put more weight into the reviews coming from more respected sites like IGN, even though it's obvious the reviewers there are more keen on reviewing the next "gears of war" game. on that note, i've written to IGN to see if they might review "grimm" for what it is - and not for what it isn't.

i think one thing is clear, grimm is a "hate it or love it" kinda game. my understanding is the same is true of "katamari damacy", which employs a similar game mechanic. ultimately, review scores are nice, but what's really important is how many people are actually playing the game. and our feedback on that so far is that the audience is big and growing. we aren't complaining.

next, regarding the comment regarding "open GL parlor tricks". uh. do i have to respond to this?

as i think i pointed out in a different thread - grimm is graphics card intensive AND processor intensive. it is important that you close any/all other programs you might have running in the background. if you still experience lag, then reduce the visual quality settings. as previously stated, we do test the game on the min spec machines (actually, that's all our testers have) - so we hope you're getting decent performance, even on lower spec machines.

reading the "i'm canceling my gametap..." comment, i'm left feeling a little dumbfounded. the statement implies that because gametap produced a title not in the genre this user wanted, they'll leave and never come back. this seems to ignore the huge genre range being offered on gametap (arguably the largest range of ANY publisher in the world). and it implies this person might stop buying games from any publisher were that publisher to make a "wrong" decision about their next development project. my guess is he'll run out of publishers before too long. then he'll have to go play outside. maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing? extremist behavior often leads to being "outside". best of luck with that.

looking forward to hearing what you all think of the latest episode.

My 2 cents...

I don't consider myself a "hard core gamer" but I do buy and play and enjoy games like "Supreme Commander", "Far Cry", "Peggle!", "Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars", and many, many more. I rate all of them differently but still enjoy them. I think they all have one thing in common. They all have the "gotcha" factor. They are addictive. I can't wait to play them. I make each mission or level last as long as possible to get to enjoy the game longer while at the same time I am looking forward to seeing the next mission or level.

Grimm has all these qualities I like in a game. I have rated the episodes between 6 and 8 so far. But! I love the game! It is addictive! I can't wait till the next Thursday release! I would not be surprised if even the most vocal detractor of Grimm does not download the new releases on Thursday just like those of us who love the game. If for no other reason than to look for more ammo to blast the game.

I find playing Grimm is very refreshing in that it is a "casual" FPS game. Playing Grimm is like playing "Doom" or "Quake" with all the cheats turned on. You get to fully experience the game without worry of being shot or dying. Think about it, no searching for Butt Stomp ammo. You get unlimited "Butt Stomps". Although I have never been good at finding all the "secrets" in Fps games, it is a good thing and Grimm is starting to incorporate them in the episodes and it gives me something to do after I've run my best clock times :)

Puss In Boots has been my favorite episode so far. And, I rated it higher than the others. But I'll keep playing the other episodes as well. As AmericanGT put it, some people are going to love the game and other people are going to hate the game. Hey, GameTap has a "few" other games for the haters to choose from. Go for it!

Thursday is my "candy" day. I think the weekly releases are great. American McGee's Grimm has my "Gotcha" factor. Thanks for a great game American McGee and Spicy Horse, and GameTap!

I totally agree! Anyway, what kind of reviews are the latest of Grimm's exploits getting?

After all the hype and having played his previous games, I was rather excited to play the first episode.

I was rather disappointed after playing it... I love the story scenes, but the gameplay would be perfect for a 12 year old kid.

If it weren't for the tournaments I'd never have played it again.
