I'm also getting the "failed to load library d3dx9_34.dll" error. I have gone to microsoft to update Direct X. Is there a certain Direct X file I need to download? Direct X is already on my computer, but I don't see a d3dx9_34.dll file. There is a d3dx9 file.

Are you running XP? (I am so I can maybe help you if that's the case)

Yes, I am running xp professional.

If I remember correctly, you just grab the latest redistributable. It's full of various files that you extract and a single .exe (I think) that you run that updates. Fairly simple.

For me, the same thing has been going on with PuzzleQuest: CotW; I too had issues with the exception d3dx9_28.dll file. I ran the distributable for DX from microsoft and end of problem. However, NOW it says the same thing, but for the "FreeSL.dll" file. I looked into the folder for puzzlequest, and the freesl.dll file is in there. What's going on? I'm running XP and IE8, and never had a problem with the game prior to the updates. Did they move things around, and it's a simple fix, or is this more complicated?
