Post "New" Games
How much longer is every game in the catalog going to be marked as "new"? It's pretty excessive right now having every game listed as "NEW!!!!!!11oneone".

Hello ^^

This thread appears just on the right moment. It's something we asked for a while, and it should be fixed within 2 weeks. You have no idea how happy I am \o/

You actually replied. If you didn't I was ready to bust out my tinfoil hat and turn this into a conspiracy theory thread because, clearly, your silence on the subject meant it had to be part of some nefarious plot; for what I don't know yet b/c world domination is boring, but definitely something extremely evil.

Back on topic: good to hear, thanks.

How does a well organised cover-up make this less of a conspiracy... something smells fishy.

Along with the "NEW" tags being taken off change the most played games on the homepage please........no way those are still the most played.....it's been like months. If you can keep changing the background with newest games released you can change this too. :)

I emailed cust support, and it seems that GT is quite satisfied with how badly things have sucked. Needless to sayt I've had it and I'm going to cancel.

Reminder of your message

I've been a game tap subscriber for several years. I've enjoyed being a member but since the last time you've re-done your website browsing for games has been a real drag. The search/sort options are terrible. EVERY SINGLE GAME on the site has the gold box around it and is stamped "NEW" on the lower right, so forget about logging on to see what's new, because you'll have to comb the entire site to figure out what IS new, assuming you'll remember what was and was not there before. I know I'm not alone in wishing that there were search options such as Release Date, OS, User rating... search options you'd expect to see just about anywhere which unfortunately- and surprisingly are not offered on the GT site. It is very frustrating.
If anyone on your staff reads the forum they would find that these are common concerns amongst your subscribers, and have been for some time.
Are there changes coming? Because as it is now I am no longer interested in paying for my membership. If you can tell me that you are working on making your site more reasonably searchable and stop labeling games that have been there forever as "NEW" then I might hold out to see if it has become any better. If not I am sorry to say that I plan to cancel and look into getting a Steam account instead.
Your response will be greatly appreciated.
-Jon

Well, they did fix this though, and when I pointed out errors on the homepage they promptly fixed them.

I joined Gametap, to play classic arcade games from the 80's. It's been donkey's years since that catalog was updated. What about adding some conspicuously absent games like: Spy Hunter by Bally/Midway, Gorf by Midway, Donkey Kong by Nintendo, Ms. Pac-Man by Namco/Midway, Pole Position by Namco/Atari, Star Wars by Atari, Tron by Bally/Midway, etc.

Please, no more Kung Fu/Karate games. They heralded the demise of the classic corner store arcade group.

I agree, the Retro catalog seriously should get some attention in some form. I doubt we'll see anything from Nintendo or Midway due to the huge contracts required, but it wouldn't it be possible to add at least 1 game a week (or even a few a month) at some point? It would probably be easier to secure licenses for the older classic games as well as benefit all the subscribers. It's at least considering as an option, maybe a poll is an order?

Back in the old days of GameTap they said that the older games were actually much more likely to be harder to secure than newer ones for various reasons; a big one I remember being figuring out who the current license holder is, which can be tricky, especially if a company or two went bust along the way.

Yeah, still sorry (it's my "I'm sorry" week \o/) but the retro games won't be updated before a long time. As we said, we're focusing on new games, new player (DON'T LAUGH §), and we don't have enough resources to take care of the retro section.

I am totally with ya all on the hopes for a Retro infusion. I find myself going to Easyretro.com frequently. Oh the days past of Co-Op Metal Slug and more. :(

I doubt companies will be interested in releasing classic console games on GameTap now that they've realized they can charge $5-15 a pop for them. You don't see Genesis games on the Unlimited Play service, yet there's a package deal on the Download to Own service, as well as Virtual Console, PSN, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam.
