 Oblivion
Well I finnaly got my hands on oblivion about 5 days ago and it's the only game I've played since then. My only problem is that I feel REALLY weak. I know enemies level with you but I feel like It takes FOREVER to kill somthing unless I'm doing a sneak attack(My guy's stealth based)any tips my GT friends(and enemies to some extent)?

 Re: Oblivion
What's your difficulty slider set to? You might want to lower it if it's really hard to kill people.
You could also try a different character build. It's actually reccomended that you set a special save slot right before leaving the cave at the start of the game, since that's when you finalize your build, makng it easier to mess around with it. There's also a set of ruins right outside the cave, so it's not a bad idea to take your build there.
Personally, I prefer a mix of warrior/mage skills. You could always substitute mage for stealth if you want to play that way, but pretty much every build can complete every guild questline.

 Re: Oblivion
I felt this way when I started, once you get a few magic weapons things speed up. I feel though like it's a function of the leveled monsters (i.e. match your level.) Class choice seems important to me too. My fiancee picked "Knight" which unfortunately has a lot of redunancy (Hand-to-had, blunt and blade.) So she's lopsided. Swordmage is working ok for me (after I made it past level 5, got a few magic items and learned to block.)

 Re: Oblivion
My diffictulty slider is wherever it starts at the beginning of the game, it's not REALLY hard to kill things I just feel like I'm a little under-powered at times. I finished the dark brotherhood stuff so I at least have some pretty decent equipment now Another question, the only enemies I see in the wild are wolfs, bandits, and the occasional bear. Do some creatures not appear until certain levels?(like the loot in dungeons)I didn't see my first bear 'till level 6 or 7

 Re: Oblivion
Pretty much, that's how the creature leveling works. Creatures appear in certain level sets, so you won't see some until you get a bunch of levels (I don't think I ever saw any minotaurs).

 Re: Oblivion
These are just my experiences with the vanilla game and some advice to make life easier.
If you really want to feel underpowered try using only a bow. It doesn't take too long to need 10+ shots to bring something down (which is ridiculous, especially with an enchanted bow and enchanted arrows.
Another thing to consider is that the game is really designed for you to cap out at about lvl 30. Get much beyond that and the monsters become quite a bit stronger than you (even with the difficulty slider down) so a 1v1 is a challenge and a 2 or 3v1 is just downright hard.
Light armor gets to be borderline useless because it will break the first time you're even sneezed on. So you'll want to max out your armorer skill asap so that you only need to carry around 1 hammer to fix your armor.
Daggers have really high dps thanks to their attack speed. The only way I kill things faster is with a high-powered custom spell.
Since you're trying to be stealth-based, when you hit lvl 5 (or maybe 10, I don't remember right now) head a little north-west of Skingrad to the shrine of Meridia (it will show up as a statue on your compass), complete her task and you'll get the Ring of Kajiti (you'll understand why you want that when you get it, it's very useful).
When you reach lvl 10 check along the eastern road north of Leyawiin for the shrine of Nocturnal, complete her task and you'll get the skeleton key.
And be sure to hit up Azura's shrine in the mountains north of Cheydinhal to get Azura's Star, a reusable grand soul gem to keep your enchanted weapons charged for free.

 Re: Oblivion
Speaking of Enchanting, you'll want to enchant an amulet or something with night-eye (I think that's the spell). Caves will destroy your eyes otherwise, especially since torches run out fast and give your location away if you're trying for stealth.

I found that out pretty quickly, luckily my character is a vampire so I always have a spell that gives me detect life and night eye for a little while

 Re: Oblivion
Yeah, trust me though having accidently caught vampirism. (Seriously, I thought a cure disease potion was supposed to get rid of Porphyric Hemaphilia, but it failed for some reason bug perhaps?) It gets old after a bit. While the powers are really cool, the first time you fast travel or want to stop a store (which tend to only be open during the day time) and your health starts ticking away at 100mph. Or you finish an oblivion gate to be dumped out in the middle of the day! or need to talk to an NPC (who sometimes will talk and sometimes won't talk to you, really I haven't found a rhyme or reason to that, I know it's supposed to be based on "vampire level" but I've got some who talk to me at the highest level and some who don't.) You'll find that to get things done you have to feed a bit more than expected, which of course means finding a good Feeding ground. If you don't mind paying for mods "Vile Lair" comes with a pre stocked feeding ground for you (and an auto cure for vampirism, which really defeats the purpose of the mod.) I will say I am a dark elf (vampire) so theoretically the only negative I suffer is the daylight weakness (my Dark elf fire resistance cancel's vampire fire weakness) and I get all teh benifits. So I utilized the fact that you can request an arena match then wait for it to get dark before starting it to conquer the arena.

 Re: Oblivion
I guess I should explain a few things about vamirism then Basicly everyday you go without feeding you get more powers etc. but you looking more like a vampire, so after the third day some people won't talk to you and after the fourth most people won't(after the fourth day nothing changes)the sun only hurts you if you go a day(or more) without feeding. every day adds one more point of damage(up to a max of 4 per sec) Cure disease potions only work before you turn into a vampire(once you get the disease you have to wait 3 days and sleep to rly become one)beggars in the imperial city are super easy targets since they're always in secluded areas. Well now I sound llike some kind of professor so, yeah, that's it

Bah you are so right about this, I've played Oblivion quite a few times and the only character build I really hate is an archer. It's so frustrating to get anything done! Fighting multiple enemies on a high difficulty setting with an archer is almost impossible in certain situations.

 Re: Oblivion
I use a bow(albeit a rather strong one) and I usually do fine, combine with sneak and you can usually kill enemies pretty fast, I still have other weapons to back me up though.

Actually Sun damage DOUBLES each day you don't feed up to a maximum of 8 pts/sec. So if you're romping around in Oblivion (where there's no sun) and you finish the gate without checking the time first and you get dumped out and you're at max damage even with an insane amount of hitpoints you're dead in under 2 minutes. (See here: http://oblivion.wikia.com/wiki/Vampirism) I did take a cure disease potion before becoming a vampire (as in right after I got Porphyric Hemophilia) It told me it cured my Porphyric Hemophilia, I thought all was well. I go back to the imperial city, do some shopping, fight some arena battles and suddenly I'm a vampire... I think I got bit by a bug. Oddly enough you can still contract Porphyric Hemophilia even after you become a vampire (which is strange since you have resist disease 100%). The major point though is unless you want to stay close to the imperial city all the time (which I don't) after about 40 hours of playing as a vampire, I'm getting a little frustrated. Also, the game seems not to always register when I feed. I feed, I go do something remarkably simple (and close by) like talk to a person in the same area. (I find the archmage is also good to feed on, since he's always alone when he sleeps until I finish the mage quest.) So I'll feed, go talk to someone at the Arcane University, go to the Imperial market (all before sun up) wait 1 (yes 1) hour for the sun to rise (so I've feed less than 12 hours ago, at most) and BAM! Vampire disease goes up 1 level, and since I wasn't planning on that (having fed not that long ago by the game clock) I"m stuck outside, with shops possibly still closed, running around trying to get into a building. I'm high enough level now that the 1pt/second damange doesn't bother me that much, but it's still annoying. (Like I said, not nearly as annoying as being dropped back to the normal plane taking 8pts/second damage after closing an oblivion gate, but still annoying.

 Re: Oblivion
I have the GOTY edition on Xbox. Patching is mandatory . The only "bugged" parts are really the feeding and the original infection. The rest is just fall out from being a vampire really. It's fun, the problem is to get all the really cool powers you have to be fully vamped. (Embrace of Shadows is great for Oblivion gates because once you get to the Sigal room you can use it and just run up and grab the stone.) Everything comes with a price though I suppose. I will say I used the Skill bonuses to up my mysticism. Since they're treated as Permanent enhancements, if they bump you up to the next skill level you can cast skills of that level (i.e. Novice-->Apprentice) whereas rasing skills using potions or spells doesn't do this. Since I was Skill level Novice I couldn't cast any mysticism spells I had/could find, but when I vamped out at +20 I was able to do it, I then casted night eye repeatedly until my actual skill level was above 25.
