Plugin Causing Instability: Browser Crash(Firefox 3.0.8)
Firefox has now crashed five times after installing the Gametap plugin. Of which I still am not able to take a look at Gametap's games or the new system. (Every time I try to go it tells me I need to reinstall the plugin.) Somewhat frustrating boyos! UPDATE: Crashes are tied with the overlay that pops up when you try to port the Gametap client cache (or so I guess that is what it is. It's only there for a brief flash before crashing). Resolution Attempts (Laptop: Windows XP): Uninstalled Plugin, Reinstalled Plugin Uninstalled Plugin, Updated through GT-Client Uninstalled "Other" Plugins Disabled NoScript (GT Pages Only) Uninstall Firefox 3.0.8/Reinstall Firefox 3.0.8 (Restore backups of private data) Uninstall Firefox 3.0.8/Reinstall Firefox 3.0.8 (DID NOT restore backups of private data) Uninstalled Firefox 3.0.8 (Kept all personal content), Removed Old Reigsty Keys (CCleaner V2.16.830)/Reinstalled Firefox 3.0.8/Reinstalled Gametap Plugin Uninstalled Firefox 3.0.8 (Deleted all personal content), Removed Old Registry Keys (CCleaner V2.16.830)/Reinstalled Firefox 3.0.8/Reinstalled Gametap Plugin Uninstalled Firefox 3.0.8 (Deleted all personal content), Removed Old Registry Keys (CCleaner V2.16.830)/Reinstalled Firefox 3.0.8/Restored Personal Content (Backup)/Reinstalled Gametap Plugin Uninstalled Adobe Air, Uninstalled Adobe Flash, Uninstalled Macromedia Shockwave, Uninstalled Firefox 3.0.8 (Deleted all personal content), Removed Old Registry Keys (CCleaner V2.16.830)/Reinstalled Firefox 3.0.8/Reinstalled Gametap Plugin

Re: Plugin Causing Instability(?) (Firefox 3.0.8)
I guess it's hit and miss with Firefox 3.0.8, I updated without a problem.

Yeah, I even updated just after launch yesterday when the website was barely functional and it still worked for me.

Firefox 3.0.7 imports the old caches just fine. (Firefox 3.0.7 is on my machine at work.)
3.0.8 on both my laptop (Firefox 3.0.8/WinXPx86) and desktop (Firefox 3.0.8/Vistax86) still fail.

New Attempts: Uninstall Firefox 3.0.8/Reinstall Firefox 3.0.8 (Restore backups of private data) Uninstall Firefox 3.0.8/Reinstall Firefox 3.0.8 (DID NOT restore backups of private data)
None of them worked.

Re: Plugin Causing Instability: Browser Crash(Firefox 3.0.8)
Sorry for Double-Post.
Uninstalled Firefox 3.0.8 (Kept all personal content), Removed Old Reigsty Keys (CCleaner V2.16.830)/Reinstalled Firefox 3.0.8/Reinstalled Gametap Plugin

Uninstalled Firefox 3.0.8 (Deleted all personal content), Removed Old Registry Keys (CCleaner V2.16.830)/Reinstalled Firefox 3.0.8/Restored Personal Content (Backup)/Reinstalled Gametap Plugin

... This is getting to be impossible.. I can't afford to delete my cache, I have a monthly cap, guys! ><

Double-checked that IE would work, and it doesn't crash at the same time that Firefox does with the migration. I didn't go through with it though, since I want Firefox to have the backup, not IE.

Re: Plugin Causing Instability: Browser Crash(Firefox 3.0.8)
I had this problem. It went away after i did the migration through Internet Explorer. Now i can launch all the Desktop games through Firefox, but browser games crash right away. If i want to play them, i have to use IE.

That's unacceptable. Firefox 3.0.8 is a "Recommended" browser.

Freyar I'll forward this post to the devs. I know it doesn't help you but I'm using 3.0.8 and its working.

As long as I know people are working on it, I feel better. I've been talking to TSR about the issue as well.

I can personally vouch that TSR has been poking developers behind-the-scenes on this one.

Re: Plugin Causing Instability: Browser Crash(Firefox 3.0.8)
Hey Freyar, I totally understand if you'd be hesitant to try this (or have tried this already), but have you tried reinstalling Firefox? Even if its just an install-on-top-of-self so you'd keep plugins and whatnot. I'm just curious as to what would happen.
I am not a software developer nor an official representative of GameTap so don't hold them responsible if you follow my advice and hose your computer. I'm impressed if you read all of this stuff.

Still standing by for more information. I can't think of any more attempts I can make on my side of the table.

The Gametap plugin is now working properly on my Vista Desktop machine. However, it is still failing on my laptop.

I assume both are running FF 3.0.8. Do they have all the same plugins? (Also how'd you fix it, that'd be good to know.)

Oddly enough, I just reinstalled the plugin on my vista box and it worked perfectly. The only real difference in add-ons for Firefox 3.0.8 is the "Orbit Downlaoder" and possibly Flashgot. Before you ask, I have re-installed Firefox from scratch on the laptop (which is still failing), so I don't know exactly how those can fail.

Re: Plugin Causing Instability: Browser Crash(Firefox 3.0.8)
Darn, I was hoping it could be traced back to some incompatability with other plugins.
