I am enjoying this lunchtime tourny thing so thanks for running it. I should be at 3 pts now but it only says 1. Does it normally take a few days for points to be added in?

robotgorilla has to add the points by hand so it takes a little while.

Heh, ever since I found out how to rapid fire with my controller these games are a lot more fun. I'd say it's kind of an unfair advantage but my god the last time I played colony 7 my right thumb was gone, now I can actually pay attention to those little moving pixels that kill you...

The most annoying part of Burnin' Rubber is when you're going along all slow, trying to avoid the cars, and you accidentally nudge one, but it recovers and continues on. Then a dump truck drops a rock and the idiot you bumped rams into it. You get credited for smashing that car even though you didn't cause the crash. Because you made contact with it before, if it crashes later, it's your kill. :(

The second most annoying part is trying to make that triple jump at the end of stage 4.

Yep, there is a 50,000 point bonus for completing a level without causing a crash.

What?! Wow I was just about to comment on the game's title being ironic in that you're not racing at all rather trying to kill everyone while not getting killed yourself. Wish I had known that a few hours ago...

PS- Dang, that is an excellent way to start out the game, with 50,000 points. There's barely a chance of doing it from stage 2 and on but that gives a nice boost at least.

Hehehe...they tell you about the bonus in the game infocard instructions, you know, ?

@Codeguru: I can easily do it on levels 1, 2 and 3. Once I get to stage 4 it gets trickier. The more you practice it, the more you memorize the tracks and the easier it becomes. Keep your speed around 50, only speed up to get around annoying cars that get too close and/or to jump. Take the side paths around the lakes whenever possible. Only 4 enemy cars can be on the screen at one time, so try to match speeds with a group of 4 of them and you can cruise behind them until the next jump.

To be fair, "Burnin Rubber" is the Japanese title. The US name was "Bump 'n Jump".

After I get past level one and two with out destroying any cars I use the extra lives I obtain to delibritely crash if I see that I am going to land on or destroy a vehicle. I figure with about 3 or 4 extra lives to use I can get past each level. So far though it has only helped me through 4 levels.

any space invaders tips? jeez I can't even get past level 1 they get too close no matter how many I kill at first. then at the end they fire too fast and kill me if I try to get one of them.

I try to clear the side columns first, to keep the aliens from dropping longer. In later levels, when the aliens start lower, I'll clear the bottom 1-2 rows first then work on the sides. Also don't be afraid to blast through your shields to get at a column of aliens.

Anyone how or why you sometimes get giant pieces of cake (or other misc. food goods) at the end of the bubble bobble stages? Dems where the points is...plus i want cake!!!

Level 19 on Bubble Bobble realy drains my extra lives. Wow. I only got past it once the whole lunch hour.

Lunchtime leaderboards are getting a big overhaul that I am really excited about. Due to some changes with how we are doing free games, the lineup of games is going to expand greatly. This also means that the lunchtime tournaments will not be free everyday. Instead it will now be a free game every Friday and the occasional free game mixed in randomly other times in the week.
These changes will be starting on March 2nd with the debut of Tempest. Check the prize arcade calender to see all the other games that are now a part of the lunchtime fun.

yeah its gonna be mostly gold games now. there will still be enough free games that people will be able to get free subscriptions if they put in the effort.

Good news, ever since the Dig Dug Domination I've been wanting to compete on more gold games. Can't wait!...

Heh - guess I wont be getting many points from the leader board anymore (not that I ever really dominated at anything). Just have to redouble my efforts on the the forum games. Tis a shame, I did enjoy competing - glad you goldies got a better selection though...I can see how it could get monotonous.
