Please remove ads from your site for paying customers
Enough is enough; its been at least 2 months since the new gametap. Why are paying customers still relegated to trashy ads when logged in on the gametap website?

... I really don't see the issue here with the ad's really I mean there just ad's just don't look. Besides the GameTap staff is always working on new and older problems I dont really think ad banners are a major concern right now. But that is just my opinion.

it is very easy to make it so you don't see ads on any site.

Yup. Been a long time since I've seen an ad. Either way, ads for GT brings in more money for them. And that money, with some luck, may lead to good, functioning videogames here at some point in the future.

Does it mean anything that i've just come to see ads as part of the internet? Heck the other day while trying to find Acedemic Journal articles, I found them on some of the more well respected biomedical/biochemistry journals, tucked right next to the articles.

If I am floating around on a site for free - yes, ads are expected and I don't routinely block them - thats what the internet runs on. (I use noscript to see whats happening). But for paying customers there should be no ads.

But then you think about how it was before. If you were free you had to wait through a 30 second or so add to play your game. Even if we all have to suffer through the adds now at least we're not forced to waste 30 seconds of our life.

At my institution we have yearly paid subscriptions to various academic journal websites/repositories and I never see ads while using those websites. Even when I select articles to print out, I don't see ads.

Re: Please remove ads from your site for paying customers
So do we. I can't remember which site I was on at the time, I just remember going "Why does [journal] have ads next to my search?"
Maybe they weren't ads, I just misinterpreted them.

As a long-time paying customer - I don't remember any ads. Admittedly there might have been ads on the site, but once I downloaded a game I rarely wandered to the website. Since you generally have to start from the website, you just can't escape from it.

Re: Please remove ads from your site for paying customers
Just because you don't want to block ads in general, doesn't mean you shouldn't download an adblocker for use on this site, if you are already paying. You're simultaneously getting the feature you want without waiting on Gametap to implement it, and registering your dislike of ads for paying customers by not allowing them to make any ad revenue off of you.
If, on the other hand, you just want to get rid of the ads, but want them still to get revenue (to keep costs from going up, for example), you can use an adblocker that goes ahead and downloads the ads.
The one thing that won't work is just complaining about it. As long as you are still paying for the service, there's no reason for them to care if you don't like it.
