Re: Select Sierra games to be removed June 30th
So we are loosing our D&D games? That really sucks, but if you have to in order to keep from trouble, I'll live with it. I would, however, quite enjoy it if you would get them back up asap, no pressure, just something we all who like that kinda stuff are most likely thinking.

The new blizzard Activsion-vivendi, currently on attempt to destroy gaming everywhere. Fine, thake these games, but if you take brutal legend from me (via lawsuit currently in progress) I'm going to give you a new definiton of World of Warcraft

That's simply unacceptable. I know it's not GameTap's fault but this just killed a large portion of GT's value.

On the blog buster did nail it. Acti-blizzard-vision is certainly on path to being the new EA.

They will be completely gone for the time being. As for the knife in the back.. this wasn't a decision we made, sometimes external forces cause licensing changes.

Re: Select Sierra games to be removed June 30th
The question is, what titles are being brought on to replace these?
Can we expect a drop in the monthly subscription to compensate for the loss of a good amount of the "better" titles on Gametap?

Re: Select Sierra games to be removed June 30th
While I don't speak for GT, I'm just a volunteer moderator, it's worth noting that games have been removed before without changes in the subscription price, so I wouldn't expect one now. It's up to the consumer to decide if the cost out weighs the benifits in this case. I for example didn't play many/any of these games on GT (why? dunno, no time perhaps.) so it's bound to have little effect on me (don't take my Civ4!) others however may have found these to be the only games they liked, thus they may feel differently.

Wow! Empire Earth? Homeworld? Homeworld 2?
Huge hit to the strategy category guys. HUGE!!!
Hey, here's an idea. How about adding some more of CDV's catalog to replace the Sierras. Shouldn't be too hard to do. I mean, you already have Darkstar 1, and CDV has put out some excellent strategy games.

I meant it more rhetorically...I was hoping to play Baldurs Gate 2 and the Icewind Dale's eventually, but do have to admit GT has added some good quality titles lately too...although Freelancer is one Ive played through already. I have more time to work for the subscription fees than I have to enjoy the benefits of the fees though....so many titles, so little time.

Luckily I own Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale I and II, but they're awesome games and I'm sad that Gametap players will not get to experience them. Those are great titles. Sorry to Gametap and us users for the loss. Incredible Machine was one of my favorite puzzle games as a kid . . . and now : )

Re: Select Sierra games to be removed June 30th
Crap...
I could not access any of these games using the old Gametap player because I live in Canada and the rights for these games did not transfer to Canada. Then when the new web-based service came in, I could finally access these games... for a couple of months... now they are gone again.
Too bad, Torment is one of my all-time favorites. I understand the licenses switched hands in a deal that GT had nothing to do with, but it still sucks. I hope you can get them back one day.

Really? I'm going to have to investigate this.

I'm just happy enough to be able to play Homeworld 2. I also had the same Canadian licensing problem until the web player came about.

Gloat, why don't you! I don't own them, and some chick named truedragon dragged me to Comicon last year dressed as a character from them! I'm sad at their loss, and whatever money-grubbing organization is responsible should look deeply in their own souls...and then jump. Sierra games rock. We need some new games on Gametap because I'm running out of ones that I play all the time. Might just buy those games and save some money! TrueDragon's sister and the one who pays for gametap ;-D

Re: Select Sierra games to be removed June 30th
It's worth pointing out that Sierra didn't make this call, since they're gone, owned by Activision blizzard right now. So if you want to throw out some games, I'd choose either activision or blizzard games to pitch. If that was a jibe at the anger... I think a lot of people are angry right now with regards to the way the new Actiblizzvision is acting, they've so far sued at least 2 companies over games they've dropped then realized could be profitable. In short, they're acting like buttheads.

Re: Select Sierra games to be removed June 30th
In some other thread LC said that we were going to get some new rpg's soon . He wasn't allowed to say what they were but if that's the case they must be big. Maybe those'll make up for some of the games we lost .

Personally, I would love to keep Lords of Magic and Planescape, but if you have to get rid of them then alright. I hope you can get them back though.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Do they have any idea how hard it is to find Placescape Torment?
That's it, I already knew Blizzard wasa bunch of evil asshats after they figured they could charge for Batlenet after making billions a year from WoW, but this seals the deal. I was already going to swear off D3 and SC2, because of how archaic they look, but now I'm going to lambaste them wherever I can and recommend to everyone they never buy another of their products.

This is probably more on the Activision side of things than the Blizzard side.

I prefer as many excuses as possible to hate Blizzard. WoW's success has pretty much stagnated the MMO industry into a bunch of hotbutton spamming clones.
