Companies aren't pulling out, the recent changes to GameTap have nothing to do with the loss of these titles. There are external forces at play with both the Midway and Sierra licenses.

I read this when it was posted, I am so very sad to see all of these games go. There are alot of card type games there too....I do hope the license will be brought back very soon. This is a large chunk of games I play. I love the D&D games also.

This is very sad.

My guess is that this has to do more with Hasbro Inc. than Activision-Blizzard, especially with the D&D games.

I've got some steel traps and tranq darts, so as soon as we figure out exactly who has those licensing rights, we can find them and persuade them to sign some contracts allowing GT to distribute the games. Oh, and while we're doing THAT kind of work, we can strongly suggest they start reprinting hard copies of Planescape: Torment and offering it via download.

F.Y.I. Those are Interplay titles. What does ActivisionBlizzard have to do with these?

Those are sierra titles published by interplay (no defunct) IIRC, AB bought the rights for the sierra catalog (but may have lost them?)

Aw nuts! Siera games rock, it's sad to see them go. Luckily I was able to play Balders Gate before the switchover. I had high hopes that we might see the Ground Control games in the future but not anymore.

Oh well you guys still have some great titles and I love the Classic Arcade.

fine, these great titles are going because of external forces, nonetheless, the value of gametap will diminish as a result. this on top of all the problems since this WONDERFUL gametap upgrade at the end of march, has me trying to justify retaining my subscription.

This is the problem. These properties have had several owners over the years. We had them licensed from Sierra.

I'm prepared to dress up like John Belushi in Blues Brothers and plead for them with the new rights holder like he pleaded with Carrie Fisher.

If that'd help at all once ya find who it is.

Well I just recently signed up yesterday and the odds of me continuing my membership are getting slimmer by the day. Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, and Planescape where really what got me to join. Only games left I really want to play are the Fallout games.

Losing those games coupled with graphic problems on almost all the games I downloaded, is really a big let down. Sorry, but I just can't see myself keeping GT past my first month.

Not that it will help you too much. But the fallout games seem to have problems with newer computers (GT games or not.) Sometimes fiddling with the compatability mode settings, or various settings in your graphics card can mitigate them.

Gloat, why don't you! I don't own them, and some chick named truedragon dragged me to Comicon last year dressed as a character from them! :-D I'm sad at their loss, and whatever money-grubbing organization is responsible should look deeply in their own souls...and then jump. Sierra games rock.

We need some new games on Gametap because I'm running out of ones that I play all the time. Might just buy those games and save some money!

TrueDragon's sister and the one who pays for gametap ;-D

Dear me, now I'm going to have to change my name!! Hey, it's not my fault you have no taste in games, girl! You need to try new things, instead of playing Puzzle Quest all day long ; P We shall miss you at our Forgotten Realms Comic-Con party :(

There are some great deals on Baldur's Gate games on Amazon right now, I have noticed. Owning them is probably the best way to play them, anyway. Icewind Dale, too. Awesome RPGs!

It is certainly a great loss to GameTap, but at least they continue to add more games.
However is there anyway to preserve the save game files? (particulary for Planescape: Torment since I have not completed that one) If the licenses are successfully recovered, will our game saves be in tact? and what if we purchase a physical copy of some of these games?

I believe in the past when Gametap has had to pull games from the service that the data you've downloaded remains on your PC until you delete it manually, and thus if/when they've returned the files become functional again.

I assume this will follow a similar pattern.

That stinks. I really liked some of those games.
If you must take those away, may i make a few suggestions for new games like these?

Diablo
Diablo 2
Final Fantasy (ANY of them)
Warcraft
(I know, I'm a fan of Blizard games)

Yeah, that would be cool. And which Warcraft? All of them or just one?

WTF!!! I signed up for Gametap, literallly YESTERDAY, pretty much just because I saw they have Planescape and Baldur's Gate. And on the very day that I sign up, they take those games down? Real nice, Gametap. You could have at least posted a warning on the front page or something rather than hiding it here in the forums.

My evenings are ruined!!!! :!:

Finally someone upset about the card games. No one else has a good cribbage game to play at the end of the day when your brain is about to explode from work related crap. You young whippersnappers can boohoo all you want about this D&D thing, but us old grandpappies need our fix of th the games of our youth.

Oh yeah and homeworld

I joined Gametap for two reasons. The first was to give my younger sister a chance to play some of the games I enjoyed as a child since I no longer have most of my old console and PC games. The second--and arguably more important reason--was because Planescape: Torment was my favorite game of all time.

Well, my sister doesn't like the service as much as I thought she would and Gametap just offed some of its best PC games. Are we going to get anything to make up for this loss or is Gametap just gonna handwave this away? I want to justify my subscription because I like the idea behind Gametap, but its selection of titles that appeal to me are far too slim.

This sucks. The only games I every really play are Hoyle Table Games, Solitaire & Majjong, and Incredible Machines. They just took every reason to renew my Gametap subscription that I had away from me.
