Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
I have 3 computers I use on a regular basis, 2 desktops and a laptop. All 3 are running 64-bit OS' and have more than 3 GB's of RAM.
Unsubscribing, not even going to bother trying to get a refund.

how much longer should I keep checking back for about when they will support x64? Is it lost hope or are they actually working on it?

It's not even amusing anymore. Keeping us in the dark, and taking so long to get this working is making me lose my faith in you guys completely.

That's not really acceptable after this amount of time that people have been asking for 64 bit support. You know if it was implemented to begin with this issue would have never had arisen, even if you'd listened back when this was first posted, then it would be finished already. Really, could the person who thought it was a good idea to not support 64 bit systems clue us in as to what you were thinking?

Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
I'm not privvy to any information, but based on GT's age I'd imagine they were thinking "64 bit is new, let's get a product out the door now." Considering when GT started you had to look a bit for a 64 bit PC (and even harder for a 64 bit OS, since only XP business edition had one.)

It probably doesn't matter, but when my current year is up, I'm going to have to say goodbye to GT over this issue.

I might have to give up as well. I'd like to play Painkiller again, maybe I'll buy it from steam. Not my fault my old computer broke.

Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
Oh boy add me to the list!!!
It was bad enough when the OS X support was dropped but I was willing to let that slide since I still had an old dinosaur PC that could barely play most of the games. Sure it would crash a lot and couldn't handle most of the high end games but I least I could still play!!!
Well the dinosaur became extinct and was replaced with a brand new spanking PC that runs 64 bit vista. I figured awesome now I'm set and would finally be able to really enjoy my GameTap account. NOT!
SURPRISE what a low blow when I find out there's no 64 bit support! Isn't that cute.
I will be canceling my account if this is not addressed by February which is when it renews. What other choice do I have I'm not going to continue to pay for something I can't even use.
GAMETAP really needs to take this matter more seriously if they don't want to lose a lot of 64 bit customers. Is this issue actually going to be resolved or is it all just a bunch of smoke and mirrors?

As would I. I like the service, and was quite upset with the lack of 64 bit support. Let me know if you do need beta testers.

Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
Let me give you guys a semi-official technical update on 64-bit OS support. I'm afraid most of the news is pretty positive, so hopefully everyone can handle that.
Here are the current facts about GameTap's 64-bit development effort: 1) We are already several months into a relationship with a 3rd party vendor that provides 64-bit OS support for PC game encryption. We are not inventing anything new in-house, which means you should get a solid product and you shouldn't have to wait too long for it. Our GameTap coding work is mostly an integration effort; the new software fits really nicely into our existing design. 2) We already have an internal version of the GameTap player that downloads and launches a number of PC games on a 64-bit OS. I was just playing "Prey" this afternoon on my Alienware laptop running Vista 64. 3) The 64-bit player will support background downloads, playing from precache, and all those things that you would expect it to do. 4) We already have a number of games in our legacy catalog that have been encrypted for the new 64-bit vendor software.
We still have some work to do to get all of our deployment processes and tools ready, but we are well on our way to having this ready within a couple of months hopefully.
Thanks for your patience. We know this is an extremely important issue for many of you, and this is the top priority project for the US development organization. As soon as we can deliver a quality product to you with 64-bit OS support, you will hear about it.

Can't justify subscribing to the service without 64 bit support.

Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
While there are tons of games we can play without 64 bit support, it seems like the only games being added these days are PC games (unfortunately). I hadn't read this thread before today and when I saw the post on the blog about the agreement with Ubi -- I just posted a blurb about gee it would be great to have 64 bit support. Next thing I know there's an updated blog post. Wow, they do take comments seriously! Then I saw this thread and while misery loves company, I appreciate that this is a priority. And if you ever need any outside beta testers, my TapID is icedcorn. Thanks!

Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
I'm glad to see it's goin well. I realized last night that the only *honest* reason I still run Vista 32bit is because of GameTap. I dual boot Windows 7 64bit and I find myself working in that far more often.
Very anxious to see the 64bit client!

Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
I was very dissapointed when I went to resubscribe to gametap for the last month before my senior year in college and found that my new desktop wouldn't work with the PC games for this reason. They're the only reason I wanted to subscribe in the first place, I'm not a fan of the in-browser games. I previously played gametap games through my laptop, but it wasn't powerful enough to support most of the newer games. Now that I have the power I still can't play them I guess. I would happily resubscribe when the 64-bit compatibility comes out in a few months but unfortunately I am most likely going to have a very heavy workload until next summer and won't have time to play games very often. So I'm sorry to say it but you've lost another customer for a year if not forever. It was fun when I could play before, thanks for your previous service.

Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
WTB 64 bit beta test invite. Pretty much all the game I played previously were windows ones, and all the new ones are as well.
If it's mostly working, I would ask that it just be rolled out at this point, since we can effectively test it more quickly than any test in house. At this point, anyone who is still around with a 64 bit OS really wants this to succeed, so there would probably be a lot less backlash than your higher-up's thinks.

Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
By all means send me an email when the 64-bit version is in beta or whatever available format - until then, I'll be continuing to pass on GameTap. (Just installed Windows 7 final, as a TechNet subscriber, and continuing with 64-bit only on my machines)
I was hoping there was something...but still not. Once the client is running, don't wait for the games to be encoded in 64-bit - and I think most of us would be willing to accept less-than-perfect code the first time out, and provide some feedback. Re-encode the games as things go.

Re: The Official 64-bit Support Suggestion Thread
I would be willing to beta test on my laptop and my main computer. I don't know if you are planning external beta testing, but I thought i'd throw my name into the hat for consideration if external beta testing ends up happening
