Would like data to see if I should go forward with a petition to discontinue the series on Gametap, because for me it's just taking up a slot that could be used for a better game (btw wtf ever happened to the GOOD series like Sam & Max or Grimm (even though that became crap in the later episodes))?

Id rather watch paint dry then play that game, one game a week and we get that barn burner. Not like we are short on those type of games, yet we get more of that worthless crap. Hint, take a peek at the top 10 played games and go from there on what your customers want. Not this garbage i wouldn't subject my worst enemy to.. :!:

Whew, that felt good to get off my shoulders. Thanks for reminding me Isaristh.

Odd i thought there was a fairly good audience for this game and other adventure games. I came here exclusively for what i thought was dreamfall but i had made a mistake. I'm casually playing syberia right now in it's place. I don't know if runaway is any good. Lol i thought it was the chick flick film of video games. Seems like the movie "Fools Gold". I think i will try it and see if its anygood. Who knows maybe it has quicktime action events... maybe

I haven't gotten around to playing it yet, but I remember it doing well critically, and it seems like the perfect thing for Gametap's catalog (a game a lot of people probably missed the first time around).

Also, there's only two games, so stopping them from putting any more is a pretty pointless exercise :P

Yeah, there's no sense kicking it out, now that the whole series is on here.

I played about 30 seconds of the first game (after sitting through what felt like ten minutes of non-interactive garbage*) and instantly hated it. The game seems really full of itself from the get-go. Would not recommend to others.

*Note that I do love point-and-click adventures, and I have no problem with a game that starts with a cutscene, but I would simply prefer that said cutscene not be garbage. Having the protagonist sitting in a chair against a black backdrop as he flatly monologues about his back-story is garbage, and the 3D animation is extremely stilted and lifeless.

Im in chapter 3 of the first runaway game, so far its actually pretty interesting. Compared to most adventure games, runaway has a bit of difficulty to it. Makes you think a lot. Its original and worth a look.

These are some of the games that I would like to play, but there is so much ahead of them that I want to try out first who know if I'll ever get to them.

I think I just get scared of having so many choices sometimes that I don't know what to do with myself.

Ugh, glad I'm not the only one who really doesn't like it. For some reason I thought it got great reviews or something.

That said, I can't stop playing it. It's the odd combination of inanely clique story, ridiculous cartoon art style, and a completely straightfaced presentation that keeps my playing on, reviling in the horror. They they played it all tongue in cheek, that would be one thing, but these jokers are taking it seriously!

The puzzles showcase all the classic mistakes the genre has come be known by: pixel hunts, illogical solutions, and overly complicated inventory combination. We tolerated this stuff when it was parred with a humorous storyline. But will I keep playing to see if the 20 year old nerd gets the amazingly hot woman? Hardly.

I play because its like staring into the abyss of madness, where the only recourse is to resort to gibbering madness. It's therapeutic.

Also, WTH is up with the cover of the second game? That's almost X-Blades level of shamelessness.

Well im through the second chapter. The game kinda grows on me. However, I was pretty close to quiting while listening to the main character in the chair at the beginning. It did take me forever to figure out what to do at the beginning. Everything that seemed logical to me wasn't though.

I thought i could pour water on her with that broken cup. Or that i could grab the tube off the serum bag to use on the broken water pipe. I even thought that I would need to use the showerhead piece somehow. I guess, i just had to use some matches. Still dunno about the game but i will play if further.

Well.......Runaway 2 actually did grow on me too except for the fact I was almost to Chapter 5 and the game hit a glitch and it was gone. The frustrating thing is at least on my comp when I would try to save the game it would just die and all that time spent was lost having to start over from the chapter beginning that I was on. Saving games needs to be a priority b/c this is getting ridiculous. I am not one to complain about trivial stuff but this p***** me off. And yes....most def...both Runaways can be extremely tedious and annoying with that long dialogue and scenes. I did catch some funny things in #2 though. Dude, would talk about mp3's, whiskey, getting a lemur drunk, the dude pretending to ride a horse before hooking up with that girl, and there was this one cool part that had something from the movie "the shawshank redemption" where it said on a bunk in the alaska shelter i think, "Brooks was here." After that part in the movie where the old dude hung himself when he was released from prison. Anyways, sorry had to vent y'all. Have a good one.

Parts of it are annoying, but overall, the Runaway series is very good. I'm not sure where the dislike in this thread comes from nor the "full of itself" comment.

Runaway is a PC game, any saving is handled internally to the game, and has nothing at all to do with the "Save states" for emulated games not existing. If you can't save in that, you're having other problems.

A shudder of fear ran though my body.

I got to chapter 4 on the first one before loosing interest, and I identify with the gibbering madness that Adml. Frosty mentioned. I think this one just wasn't my sense of humor, I mean Sam and Max had me on the floor at times; this one had zero punchlines and was more disturbing than silly.

I was reminded about something alot less tasteful when I saw the pic on the sequel.

GOOD RIDDANCE!!

Runaway is very frustrating because it has the POTENTIAL to be a great game, but is worse then pounding a dull ice pick through the back of your sinuses.

The cartoon-like graphics are quite attractive and the interface is a bit less annoying than some (Post Mortem) 'cause you can interrupt the insipid dialogue.

I do believe that Runaway's story and dialogue was written by several non-English speaking, retarded children who were each given different pieces to work on and not allowed to confer with one another.

It is absurd, counter-intuitive, ridiculous, nonsensical, and full of so much unrelated garbage, that trying to actually play it without constantly cheating is absolute torture.

Sometimes it's possible to figure out WHAT to do, but HOW to do it is always the most unrealistic and backwards method possible.

Sorry, it was the first chapter that got me. So chocked full of red-herrings it was ridiculous.

Let me get this straight: the best way to wake up the sleeping lady is to TRIGGER THE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS?

I believe that sentence could properly summarize the entirety of the game.
