Re: HEY! What Happened To My Free Game? >:O -The Free Games FAQ
Did I miss something was this "policy" of rotating in/out free games posted when i agreed to this subscription if it was my badand I apologize to gametap and the other people flaming me but if not they need to seriously advertised this and not bury it in fine print at the end of a long eula or something this is seriously F** to take away a free game. I will not be advertising this service to anyone unless they extend the free games to a month at the least.Who finishes a game in under a week most people have a job to do everyday!

Re: HEY! What Happened To My Free Game? >:O -The Free Games FAQ
It's a trial. You're not necessarily supposed to finish it, just like you're not supposed to get to level 80 in a week trial of WoW. Instead, you're supposed to use it to decide if you want to subscribe to the service.

1:these are meant to be a trial of the full thing not a charity service. 2:some games switch every week and some switch every month, it depends on the game.

LittlestCthulhu wrote: "If you make more games free I'd subscribe to your service." Aside from the obvious flaw in this line of thinking, "if you're truly going to subscribe why do you need more free games?", the reality is GameTap has tried this kind of promotion in the past with little to no impact on the number of new subscriptions.
Have people actually said this? Back when you guys had gotten up to about 120ish free games, I was seriously thinking about canceling my subscription, simply because there was more than enough free to keep me entertained.
Sadly, several people have said "I was going to subscribe, but then you took away a bunch of free games so I decided not to". I'm not sure on what logic there is here.
Hmm.... yeah. I don't understand too.
CHECK MY ACCOUNT ADMINISTRATOR...I WAS A PAYING PREMIUM MEMBER FOR A YEAR UNTIL THE GAMETAP SNAFU WHEN NONE OF MY GAMES WOULD PLAY AND I COULDN'T ACCESS MY ACCOUNT. IT'S LIKE THE COMPANY IS BEING RUN BY A BUNCH OF CONFUSED TEENAGERS.

I'm a volunteer mod, not an admin.
Also, could you please not use all caps? It's fairly annoying.

Oh crap do not get me started on GameFAQs. I just suicided both of my accounts there two weeks ago. Screw those boards and everything that goes on in there. Compared to that place, the "OMG GameTap sucks now, bring back the app!" and "I want free games!" is really civil.

On the other hand, I´m considering to sign up anyway. I can keep the free stuff then, right?
Some games rotate monthly, some weekly. I think JA2 is on the monthly list. To answer your other question though, yes, if you subscribe, then you can keep playing the free games right where you left off.
Sooo, just for clarity: Lets say iI subscribe after the rotation, will I get my stuff back? Note (duh) that I have no earthly idea how this whole thing works.

Yes, as long as you haven't manually removed the games, all the games you've downloaded will be there.

Yes, because they fear the smileys in your post...
Seriously, why are you people so upset? You haven't lost anything, it's a free account! If you don't like the choice of games on there, at least you haven't spent any money on it! People keep yelling and screaming about free games. When you pay for something, or write that you will legally pay someone when X is done, you assume that you will get that thing, be it a good or a service, because you have made some form of contract with the provider.
When you don't pay for something, there is no contract, and therefore no responsibility for the provider to do anything. They could immediately end the whole free account service and you wouldn't have any right to do anything about it. It's just the way it works.

Honestly it's sad how you people keep begging for free stuff, it isn't a charity, subscribe or shup up

Re: HEY! What Happened To My Free Game? >:O -The Free Games FAQ
This is my first and probably last post... I was thinking this was probably the greatest site ever up until I read this thread of posts. I was truthfully going to subscribe to the site but now that I know you dont get to keep the games you download thats changed my mind to nope never simply because let me get this straight okay I gotta pay a monthly sub just to be able to continuely play the OLD games "that ive already played and beaten but love none the less most of which I just threw away because of disc damage or other reasons" I already downloaded? Okay first off im not rich and even though the subscription price is low I also have to pay for my ISP which has a 3 gig download cap which if I go over I usually end up paying 10 - 20 bucks over my usual monthly bill. "I can see myself spending alot of money on this site only to have my games taken away" So maybe someday if this site actually does something thats worth paying for like I dont know maybe something like being the only exclusive host to a game that breaks the top ten in sales nationwide maybe than I'll be back. But paying again for dated ames I loved playing in the past and than being able to keep playing them contingent upon me paying the sub is slightly tempting but just not worth it to me right now...

Dude, let me get this straight. You're ISP has a 3 gig dowload cap and they charge if you go over? Who the hell are you using?

GCI cable... I got the bare minimum cable modem plan heh... Like I said im not rich and im rarely online. I just happened on this site because the FREE GAMES sucked me in like a black hole on steriods. Right away JA2 jumped out at me and than I looked at the pay to play library and saw other games like xcom and some other games I used to play. luckily I checked out this forum before I actually subscribed

Let's be clear here. GT is more like a Zune or napster pass (or Netflix if you prefer) to something like Steam is to iTunes. Surely they wouldn't just let you keep what you downloaded. Everyone would just pay for 1 month download everything and walk away.

Re: HEY! What Happened To My Free Game? >:O -The Free Games FAQ
i just think that you guys are too greedy, there was no complaints before you changed all the games to premium and i'm pretty sure that you had anouth suscribers to keep the website going and give yourselfs nice bonuses at the end of the month but you wanted more if you had more games free people would have enjoyed it more telling friends thats certainly how i heard about this website and the new people who come yes will most properly take advantage of the free games but soon they would have played all the free games and got bord and then would see your new releases and then subscribe i know lots of people wouldn't but becuase they would llike the website they would spread the word it's kind of like a free advertising.
i know that you won't change the games back to the good old days but you are getting your old gamers back and all they see is these preium games not there old favs and then they would leave nver to play again because they can't be bothered to pay so i don't care what you do coz i'm another one of your members to leave

Re: HEY! What Happened To My Free Game? >:O -The Free Games FAQ
George, as stated in the FAQ the free service is a sample for the subscription service. Not a free game charity. You are accusing us of being a for profit business, you're right, and we never stated otherwise.
