In mission four I cannot get the whirlwinds to fire on the enemy base below the cliff. I select the units and click on the target and nothing..glitch or am I doing something wrong. Thanks.

I own the retail version of DoW and had the same problem. Seems the whirlwinds will only fire from a certain "exact" spot on the map! You'll have to fiddle with moving just one of them around until it finally aquires a target and starts firing.

In all the times I've played this mission, I've only ever gotten one of them to fire.

You know, I had this problem for the longest time myself,, I got past the mission and promptly ignored that part of it.


Well, I went back recently and found out something about our friends the pacifist Whirlwinds.


The trick is: when they spawn: they're set to Hold Fire. you have to set them to something other than that for them to actually shoot.

Oddly enough, that's the first I tried. Still couldn't get em to open up on the ork base!

The way I did it was, I grabbed one of the whirlwinds and moved it up to the top of the screen. Then I started moving it down in small increments. Finally, it got to a point where it turned and began firing but, when I tried moving a second one in right next to it, sure enough, it wouldn't fire.

I finally said "the hell with it" and just sent my jet troops in to take the base out. Lost the whole squad but at least was able to continue the mission.

Hardly a game breaker but still irksome.
