I purchased this game last week on Steam and I have to say it is a very addicting single-player action-RPG. The game has the same draw as Diablo II. And it should, many of the developers were from Blizzard North and were instrumental in the development of DI and DII.

There is a game here on Gametap that plays close to Torchlight and that is Fate. It's really a simple game and won't take long to get the gist. There is a free demo on Steam if you want to check it out. The game is really gear driven. Of course there are item sets and uniques.

I usually play most games on Normal mode and I would strongly recommend to start this game on at least hard. Even then as you acquire hear you may find hard too easy. I'm playing hard and although it was challenging for awhile, I'm in the mid-20 levels and the gear is making the game too easy for hard.

The code is open source and there is going to be a lot of modding for the game. There already is a mod to make a potion to respec. It's only $20 if you like the free demo. It's sure kept me entertained until Dragon Age:Origins goes live tomorrow.

You are right I mistook it for Fable.

Yeah, the game is amazing. Pretty impressive for an 11 month development cycle.
