Art of Fighting is pretty terrible compared to SNK's later efforts. The AI is particularly brutal.

I thought the goal was to kidnap little kids who were hiding from you in closets and restrooms and pianos. Then you brought them back to Neverland for Jesus Juice and slumber parties.

Re: We Have The Best Games Ever Topic, How About The Worst?
So you think MJ's Moonwalker was bad, huh? Allow me to direct you're memories back to 2 other musical abominations that disgraced consoles past: Britney Spears Dance Beat and (ugh) The Spice Girl's Spice World. An ex gf of mine owned both of these "classics" and I was made to listen to both almost incessantly. Fotunately, the relationship didn't last long and, to be fair, after the break-up I found that both "games" did have one redeeming feature: they made half way decent skeet targets (after serving brief duty as beer coasters that is).

With VERY few exceptions, what movie-to-game adaptations HAVEN'T been disapointments. | | |
During the 8-Bit and 16-Bit eras, there were quite a few good ones: - Super Star Wars and its two sequels (SNES)
- The Lion King (SNES/Genesis)
- Aladdin (SNES/Genesis)
- Darkwing Duck (NES)
- Duck Tales (NES)
- Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers (NES)
- Willow (NES)
- Ghostbusters (Genesis)
Anyways, as not to stray too far from topic, I'd have to say Home Alone for the NES was so bad, it practically made Superman 64 seem enjoyable.

MarioFanaticXV, you reminded me of something. If you really want to see the worst games ever, just go to youtube, search "angry video game nerd". Stuff like Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout (remove the "out and you got pretty much the correct title), Home Alone (as Mario said) and Addams Family, all for NES

The AVGN is hilarious. I spent hours yesterday watching the old episodes on Cinemassacre.com (they have all the episodes, whereas youtube only has a few). Reminds me of playing Nintendo with my friend Ron. He would get all pissed off at the tough parts of the games and start cussing at the screen like the AVGN. The videos are definitely not G-rated, and possibly not even PG-13. Super funny though. I like how the episodes refer back to other episodes also. Like when he's reviewing Top Gun and he can't land on the carrier and says he's never been able to land it, then in a later episode he reviews the Power Glove and he tries to land on the carrier with the glove and he sticks the landing and he just stares at the screen dumbfounded. Definitely check it out, if you haven't before. This guy's reviews even make my gf laugh, and she's no gamer.

Yeah, just watch a few of his vids and you'll see why he's the king of reviews of bad games. Even his theme song says it all: "He's gonna take you back to the past. To play the sh**ty games that suck ass."

I loved it when X-Play reviewed bad games. Adam Savage is hillarious!

Do you mean Adam Sessler? Adam Savage is pretty funny, but I don't think they ever reviewed any games on Mythbusters.

You guys forget Top Gun for the NES. Nobody EVER consecutively landed on the aircraft carrier, nobody.
Also, Lord of The Rings Vol. 1 for SNES. That game wasn't even finished, and to top it off the save codes given to you (it should have had actual saves by that point in time) 10% of the time weren't your actual progress in the game up to that point. You'd have characters you hadn't received yet, etc.

On a related note, I've heard awful things about Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring for GBA. The first thing being that this was the game based on the books, not the movies, which didn't start making games until Two Towers (there was going to be a book-based Two Towers game, but FotR bombed so badly that that idea got killed...). From what I heard, the PS2/Xbox versions were awfully boring because they followed the book to the letter, but the GBA version had one scene transition where you had to save MID-TRANSITION or else your file got corrupted. And this was over 75% of the way through the game, so that's quite a sizable chunk.

Re: We Have The Best Games Ever Topic, How About The Worst?
While I don't hate the game, for me I'd have to go with The Empire Strikes Back for the GameBoy. It is very hard, and there are no save points. Not even passwords.
It would probably be at the bottom of my list of favourite Star Wars games.

Rayven998 wrote: Interesting you should mention Choplifter. Xicat was working on a pretty sweet looking remake called Choplifter: Crisis Shield for the PS2. They actually got to the point of sending playable code to the various gaming magazines at that time for review; most of which were generaly good.
Sadly however, the game was canceled without so much as a single word of explanation. Too bad. I still find it hard to believe that, in the (going on) 10 year long life of the PS2, only 2 decent copter games ever came out for it: Thunder Strike 3: Operation Phoenix and Fireblade.
Sad!

Worst game I ever played?
Daikatana. I did not disappoint me in the worst game ever factor. That was the sole reason why I downloaded it and played it the day it came onto GameTap. Just for that, I hope it never leaves GT at all just so GT could have the worst game I ever played.

So I just had an AVGN marathon last night, and by far the best moment was when he landed on the carrier in Top Gun with the power glove. His expression was awesome, I laughed for almost 5 minutes.

But landing the plane isn't even hard. I make it 100% of the time.

Another thread just reminded me of that RoboCop first person shooter that came out a few years back. With the exception of a few freeware games, it was the worst FPS I have ever played. Its not bad in a "movie games suck" kind of way either. It was just bad.

It's weird, I never even heard of it until TV Tropes, and now you bring it up too... I don't get why there was that sudden rush of games based on movies that had come out ages ago a few years ago. Especially since some of them were rather good (The Warriors, The Godfather), and some of them weren't (Jaws IMO, although apparently a lot of GT people liked it, and apparently Robocop). It's not like they could blame development time, since there was no real rush to get the games out. And it's not like the licenses had gotten a sudden surge in popularity that I know of. On the same topic, the Superman Returns game was pretty bad. Extremely repetitive mission design and un-fun combat. IGN said the final boss was a tornado, and I'll trust them since I didn't get that far. The worst part was that it came out with the DVD release, so they should've had more time to polish it... Poor Superman. Maybe he'll get his Arkham Asylum someday.

How about MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero. Awful controls with bad difficulty.
