Post Your Prized Copies
Titles says it all, what's your prized copy of a game? Could be a rare game, an original copy of a game, a signed game, whatever!

I have Lunar 1, Lunar 2, and Vay for Sega CD. I also have the ridiculous Kabuki Quantum fight for NES. Lunar 1 and 2 are probably some of the best RPGs ever made, Vay's a passable RPG though doesn't stand the test of time like Lunar did. And finally Kabuki Quantum fighter... well, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuXshd9A2ms hair whipping!

I have a copy of Mister Mosquito for PS2. I don't know if it's actually rare, but it's Mr. Mosquito. It's every bit as awesome as it sounds.

Also Car Battler Joe for GBA. I know that one got rare real fast.

It's not incredibly old, but my copy of the original Alone in the Dark (the first 3D survival horror game).

Also the Diablo 1 expansion Hellfire, even though it's terrible.

There was an expansion to Diablo? That MUST be rare!

I have a green label copy of Polaris for the 2600. Its listed as a 7 (out of 10) on Atari Age's rarity scale.

I have the PC version of The Typing of the Dead. It seems to sell for at least $50 for a used copy, so it cant be all that common. Then again, so does Final Fantasy VII, and EVERYBODY owns a copy of that.

As for the games I prize for reasons other than there monetary value, and ease of acquirement, I like owning games that are lower budget. They tend to really deliver the type of gameplay i crave, and knowing that my purchase funds more of them makes me proud to have them on my shelf. Some of my most loved:

Raze's Hell
Hard Truck Apocalypse
Baroque
Earth Defense force 2017 (I especially love owning this one!)

I also love anything to do with Mecha, so any Mech game is an absolutely vital part of my collection.

I own Battlespire, and Redguard. They're spinoff games in The Elder Scrolls series. I don't own retail copies of Arena or Daggerfall. They have both been released as freeware though, so as far as I'm concerned (counting Morrowind and Oblivion) I own the whole series (Cellphone games don't count!).

I own the entire Legacy of Kain series. Some of them I even have on the PC and consoles.

I do not know if any of the following are really rare, but it took me some time and money to find them all.

Star Wars: Dark Forces for PlayStation. (Original case and manuel.)

Star Wars: Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 for PC. (Original case and manuel.)

Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles for PlayStation.

Star Wars: The Phantom Menence for PlayStation. (Case and manuel.)

Jet Force Gemini for the N64. (I had the case and manuel.)

The Empire Strikes Back for GameBoy.

GoldenEye for the N64.

I need to look through my old systems, I've got them all packed away.

A few off the top of my head are:

RC Pro Am (NES)
Rad Racer (NES)
Kid Icarus (NES)
Metroid (NES)
Cobra Triangle (NES)
Ghosts N' Goblins (NES)
Super Mario Bros 2 (NES)

Phantasy Star (SMS)

Phantasy Star 2 (GEN)
Sword of Vermilion (GEN)
Ghouls N' Ghosts (GEN)

I doubt any of those would be considered "rare" though.

Well, i don't have any console games that could be considered rare. That's cuz I always trade them after I've beaten them. Yeah, I know I've probably traded away games that I now realize were fairly valuable. Then again, until recently, I never really considered video games as investments. Oh well.

On the other hand, I do have some PC sims that I understand are now considered pretty rare. In any case, I call them "prized possessions" not for their monetary value, but for my love of playing them. A short list:

Flanker 2.5
Mig Alley
Jane's World War II Fighters
Nations: Fighter Command
Red Baron 2
Independance War 1 and 2 (including all add ons)
The entire Star Trek Star Fleet Command series (vols. 1,2 and 3 (including the Orion Pirates expansion for 2)).

All are original (bought new) "big box" editions, complete and in pristine condition. And no; I have no intention of selling or trading ANY of these.............so don't even ask. :D

I have Hellfire (Diablo expansion) as well! It is most assuredly not great but I do actually like the Monk; nothing like kicking the Lord of Terror to death!

The only other things that come to mind at the moment are The Neverhood, Skullmonkeys, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Oh and by the way Mobius, I've seen Baroque for sale before and it looks interesting. Is it a good game?

Woa! There are spinoff games of Daggerfall? And Daggerfall is freeware?! (and not so called "abandonware") Where at? I know Daggerfall is buggy and easy to exploit (Kick a shop door in, load up your wagon with stolen loot, then sell entire inventory back to shop owner) but it was quite fun!

Both Arena and Daggerfall are available here.

There's also a half finished Barbarian class they left on the disc. You have to edit on of the text files to make it an option. Uses the Warrior's skin since they didn't make one for the barb. He's not really anything special though, just a Warrior that can hold two weapons at the same time.

I've got some really rare ones, let's see if I can remember them..

The entire Journeyman Project series of adventure games for the PC, which are some of my favorites of all time. This also includes the super-rare Mac OS only remake of the first game called "Pegasus Prime", and the super-super-rare DVD-ROM version of Journeyman 3.

I've also got a fairly rare DVD-ROM copy of Wing Commander 4. In both J3 and WC4's cases the cinematics are done at full DVD quality. WC4DVD only shipped as part of a DVD decoder card hardware bundle, and the disc itself isn't labeled.

Let's see... DVD-ROM version of Starfleet Academy is fairly rare, same enhancements as before.

I've also got a Gamecube copy of Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes which is supposedly one hell of a rare find these days.

I'm sure I've got others but those are the ones that come to the top of my head right now.

Which reminds me, I have The Twin Snakes, along with MGS2: Subsistence for Xbox (although I think the PS2 and PC versions of that are considered the rare ones), and Document of MGS2 for PS2.
