I'm using Firefox and running Windows Vista on an HP Pavilion laptop dv6500, Intel Core Duo 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM.

I understand Stalker / Chernobyl has issues in its history, so maybe there's nothing to be done about this and I'll just have to move on.

But have had a pretty good experience with it up until the X16 Lab level--fairly far through the game.

I've finished the first part of that level, but now going down the stairs into the underground level, it crashes the machine.

It gets hung up at "loading geometry" and never comes out. I've rebooted and the problem's repeated three or four times, same issue, same result. I can't get to the "report bug" dialog screen, because screen is frozen.

Any ideas or fixes?

Try again and when it crashes submitt a support ticket. Post the handle here so they can help you.

You could redownload it also sometimes that fixes it. Find you game save first and save.
