 Damnation...
Let me put it this way, when a brand new game is put to the pasture of gametap just 6 months after release, you know it's bad.
It was just that. Absolutley horrid.

 Re: Damnation...
No doubt, Gametap made a bad decision this time. It happens. But I'd hardly consider the games that GT aquires as being "put out to pasture" as you say. I see it more as a game being given new life (or a second chance at life if you will).
Many of us never had the chance to play some of these games when they were new so, to us, they ARE in fact, brand new games. This is what make sites like Gametap and GoG.com so appealing.

Trine would like a word with you. It's easily Game of the Year material, and would even have been solid before video games were a quantity over quality business.

To be fair they don't specificly choose what games they get out of their deals.(I think)

 Re: Damnation...
Actually, they kind of do. Just because Gametap makes a deal with a certain company dosen't mean that said company can then turn around and force whatever game they choose down GT's throat. I believe GT has at least some discretion in which games they'll take and which they won't.
Now, I might be completely wrong about this, but it just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense for GT to make a deal with a given company only to end up being held hostage by said company (at least not to me anyway).

 Re: Damnation...
I would bet a big part of it is how cheaply GT can obtain the license for a game. Games with cheaper licenses are more likely to enter GT first...and crappy games are more likely to have cheap licenses.
Thankfully, awesome, only slightly older games and indy-games are likely to have cheap licenses to.
(That said, I sincerely hope that, for example, Epic is getting more money for Unreal Tournament 3 than Codemasters is getting for Damnation.)

 Re: Damnation...
Didn't Overlord come to GT like right after they released it? I seem to remember seeing commercials for it on TV and then next thing I knew, it's on GT. And it isn't bad.

 Re: Damnation...
Actually, I didn't like Overlord all that much. Getting the Blues to not suicidally attack bosses and heal like they are supposed to is quite impossible in my experience. Maybe i just suck at the game >.<
Personally, I didn't think Damnation was all that bad. I played it for about an hour...rather repetitive though, and a few glitches with the platforming, but not necessarily bad

 Re: Damnation...
Ok. Straight up, I haven't actually played this game. And I'm not the kind of person who lets professional game critics dictate to me what games I should or shouldn't play (same goes for movie critics). If something looks interesting to me, I'm gonna check it out. Problem is, I've just read far to many reviews on far to many sites all saying the exact same thing: "this game sucks" (highly repetitive levels, dumb as dirt AI, incoherent story, every game cliche in the book, blah blah blah ad nauseum). I'm sorry folks, but this many people just can't be wrong. Sucks too. Codemasters has always been known for putting out some pretty high quality product. I've played every one of their racing sims going back to the PS1!

 Re: Damnation...
Not every release can be AAA, hopefully tomorrow's release will make up for it. I've heard very good things about it.

Unless there's a surprise day-of-release game tomorrow! According to Joystiq, PC games coming out tomorrow are Twin Sector, Serious Sam HD, and the Playmobil Double Pack. Start your conspiracy theories now!!!

Thursday is Turkey Day! They'll all (hopefully) be home. Thanksgiving week is always an early release.

Ssssh, you're ruining the wild guessing that will be inevitably disappointing compared to what it's built up to be! (PS it's going to be Donkey Kong)

 Re: Damnation...
donkey kong? riiiight. SO many non Big-N games that could find a home on gametap that can't because they may have once ever came out on a console producedby nintendo.
IF we can't see the sega ports of Mega Man 1-3 (a la Wily Wars), what makes you think were going to see a game nintedo directly produced?
oh, wait, modmin sarcasm. Carry on.

You're way off, it's going to be the re-release of Daikatana. It's the special edition with 33% more suck!

Not to spoil the guessing game, but we do in fact have a new game ready for you today, and it's Tropico 3. It'll be ready in ~30 minutes.

Will it work with Mac... Wait that's not right, wrong sacrastic comment in the wrong forums. That's Woot's stupid reply. The GT Sarcastic reply is: Will it work with 64 bit? (Sorry lack of sleep makes makes me a bit of arse )

Yeah, it's 64-bit ready.
Also, that'll learn me to make timing predictions. Let's say that it'll be ready soon.
