I've asked this many, many times with no real answer, but I really like GameTap, so I figure I'll try it again.

I frequently get a 4100 error on certain games only at the same point in the download, every time I try it. I have over 1 terabyte of free space on the disk, and some other games download fine.

An example is "Atlantis Evolution" which gets to 121.6MB and then throws the 4100 Error. I've deleted it and retried several times to no avail.

I do have considerable computer and internet experience and from my point of view, this is more than likely a problem with the GameTap server. I guess I could be wrong, but I've yet to hear any explanation that contradicts mine.

In the past, when I've pointed out things like this, those that answer have either ignored my description of the problem and just parrot the standard help files, or display contempt towards me for complaining as though a paying customer doesn't have that right.

You are correct, it is probably a server issue. Unfortunately, one that seems to have no resolution in sight.

Fair enough, but then the burning question is this:

Are there ANY issues that GameTap is willing to directly address?

I see that the website has a slightly different new look, but the programming errors are still glaringly untouched.

Apparently, people at GT are working on a new tray client (1 year and counting, maybe more....). Hopefully that tray client will resolve a lot of the bugginess in general here. I imagine they have 1 guy working on the current setup. I haven't really seen any changes at all to the way GT actually runs in a really long time...

I've been getting 4100 for about a week on Penumbra (trying once or twice a day), but Company of Heroes is downloading fine as I type this.

As an experiment, I attempted to download "Atlantis Evolution" on 3 different computers. Each one of throws the 4100 error at 121 MegaBytes.

I think this is a clear guilty verdict for GameTap. They seem to have some big problems that they are unwilling to admit.

I fear that GameTap is on a downward spiral to oblivion that began with the sale by Turner.

We may just be witnessing the end.

I am also unable to download Penumbra. It throws 4100 at 626KB, more or less right away.

We should create a listing of GameTap games that are known to be corrupted in this way.

I'll start a new thread about this so that everyone can participate.

That thread has gotten some attention. There appears to be problems with many games that will not download for anyone.
