Console publishers constantly complain about the used game market and then refuse to host their games here. Sad thing is, I'm sure they'll make more money in the long run by leaving us in the dark like this (not GT of course, the publishers...)
Oh my god, I was thinking about it and my Nemesis has just been in a bag at the foot of my bed this whole time, with the AC adaptor. Where's my SEGA carts?! Give me all yours!... Codeguru

Re: Game Removal Update
Well, at least my decision to renew or not when my subscription comes due in a couple months just became easy.
I miss the Gametap of it's Sam & Max heyday, but I no longer have any illusions that things are going to get better. Good luck to the remaining staff, and thanks for the old tournament swag (although I still haven't figured out a use for that huge orange water bottle thing).

Taito Legends for PC can be found at GameStop for $5, and has Elevator Action and more! Taito Legends 2 has Elevator Action Returns.

Most GameStops don't have Taito Legends anymore. I managed to snag both of them when they were around. Definitely worth it for the Taito fan. The interface is amazing, and the emulation is so accurate!

Gamestop stores don't really sell PC games any more. They might have one shelf full of the newest, most popular games. Which is the what they have for Gamecube games.

Re: Game Removal Update
Wow, just wow. That's at least 1/2 the games I came here to play. This place used to be amazing. But it's just sad and depressing now a days. I've held out a long time but this is final blow. I really have no reason to stay. And I do realize it's to do deals and other business reasons, so I'm not getting overly mad. But it just doesn't seem worth it for me anymore or my young nephew who came on here to play the classics (gotta raise them right ). At least the news came now the renew for me would of been next month so I can cancel now and save some money. But I will come back and if it seems worth it I'll resign up.

Re: Game Removal Update
When I joined it was for the Ultima games and the isometric DnD games like Baldurs gate. All those are gone now. I remember having hope that Gametap was going to get them back, but it never happened, and in my opinion nothing that has been added has filled the void that was left. Things seem to be continuing in the same direction ever since.

I just read that the Sonic compendium is beginning to selll on Xbox live now. This is clearly not gametap's fault! I would rather they spend cash on licenses for the new games. The last few have been pretty awesome.

Re: Game Removal Update
If they keep adding stuff like King's Bounty: The Legend, then yes they are still doing well for new games. The puzzle games are a fun diversion sometimes but the main game is what matters. God I want to find my SEGA carts so bad now though. I have only found Star Control and Might and Magic so far, and I'm sure their lithium batteries are soon to crap out leaving me with nothing!...

Nope. And if you downloaded them, you'll have to erase them manually.

Ever hear "live your life today as if it's your last day on Earth"? Well, play on GT as if it's the last day that game will be around. My yearly sub expires in Nov. Without a doubt I will not renew. I've been here three years, and barely bothered to play anything. I'm now on 64-bit Windows 7. This new system, I can't even dual boot into 32-bit XP anymore, so that's not even an option. So, barely anything works, and GT's losing games as a substantially higher rate than they're gaining titles. Bizarre thing is I subbed years ago for the retro gaming. Things I really can't just run out and buy. And now it's for the most part gone, and I feel no assurance that anything else retro will remain much longer.

Well not everyone has a lot of free time. You know there is school and work and a lot of other things that are more important than games. As for your 64-bit problem, did you ever hear of virtualization?

You've been here 2.5 years. Obviously you couldn't find the time before, so it wasn't important either way. My point is you can't and shouldn't expect that the games are going to be here indefinitely. GT's going downhill fast and gaining speed. If there's something you really want to play, play it now. Have no future expectations. warlord1312 wrote: As for your 64-bit problem, did you ever hear of virtualization?
Now that just f-ing takes the cake. You don't like GT dropping titles from its library, but if I desire better 64-bit/7 support from GT, your suggestion is I give more money to MS for a different version of the OS, and run the game degraded? I want proper support. GT's been way too slow at getting games moved over into the 64-bit-support encryption. I mean, who cares if they drop a title from the library completely if it didn't have proper support to begin with anyway? To summarize: you cannot expect a game to stick around in their library forever, it doesn't work that way. But you should demand proper support of what's in the library. Your misunderstanding of both is what you have backwards.

Just because I have been here for some time does not mean I have time to play every game. I do understand that the games will not be forever but the amount that we lost was not an insignificant portion and it was all at once. It was not like they removed a few games over a month. As for virtualization, a lot of people have a Windows license somewhere that is not used from previous computers or if you are a student you can get Microsoft licenses for free so that whole argument is a little overrated. And there did "run[ning] the game degraded" come from? Pretty much all new computers support hardware virtualization and there is plenty of free virtualization software. And if your computer cannot do hardware virtualization than what are you complaining for about 64-bit since performance on that will be bad anyways.
