I am getting sick of this! When on Gametap, you'd expect me to spend most of my time, ya know, playing the games. That's not the case. I spend most of my time in the Technical Support forum. Even then, I don't get ANY answers I need. On average, their is ONE admin every day for a few hours. Other than that, nobody is their to help

I posted a question THREE DAYS ago, and still without the smallest bit of help. I even went to the support section of the site, and posted a question. They didn't even read my question. They just sent me a Form Letter, telling me to do stuff I already did.

This site was great when it actually worked, but now I'm just getting pissed. I'm paying $9.95 for this, and I feel like I'm being robbed. If somebody, SOMEBODY can help me out with this problem, that would be great.

My problem: The Gametap Plugin WILL NOT DOWNLOAD. When it tells me to download it, it will do to the download screen, but then immediatly it will take me back to the dashbord, and I can't download games. I've deleted the broken post-system restore file, but it still refuses to download. I can't post a log about this, because I need the Gametap Plugin to do it!

As you may have noticed, the Technical Support forum has more that twice the amount of posts as the General forum. The Tech Support Forum has over 40,000 posts, and the General forum has over 19,000. That's a terrible ratio.

Now, I wasn't here when the old system was here, so I don't know what to expect. A lot of people say it was way better. Can somebody tell me what it was like in Americ- I mean the pre-system?

I hear that....check out the "view unanswered posts" section and see the pages of unanswered stuff.

I have a post over a month old and nothing...even bumped it.

The only response I EVER got from them was when I found an old post that stated the EXACT same issue (and wasn't responded too) that I had so I stated I had the same issue and needed a fix as well............the response you ask???

"Possibly it was fixed an no other help was needed. Kindly don't resurect old threads. You need to start a new one following theinstructions at the top of the forum."

Would it have been sooo hard to actually answer the problem??

I think admin is more eye candy than anything. Just my opinion of course. But you are in luck if you ask what their favorite game is...they post in 5 seconds flat!! lol

Yah, these mods act like regular users. When they try to help they ALWAYS insist that the problem has something to do with administrative and accepted site issues. It never is. I agree with these admins being eye candy, they never help. They just want it to look like they know what they're doing. Well, I just waisted $10, and I don't expect that things will work out any time soon. Btw, what was the old version of this website like, and do you have xbox live, or something similar?

I actually call them they give me pretty good advice, but yes online isn't as good

You've actually managed to get a real person on the phone for Gametap customer service? I have been on the with them for up to an hour in the past to find nothing but phone trees.

Also, id like to say i find it INSULTING that that not only am I paying for a service that rarely works as intended, the customer service and assistance we as a user base receive is abominable. Frequently we are told its not Gametaps fault a game doesnt work, and that they have little to no way of fixing the issue (I'm looking at you games like Rise of the Argonauts or DarkStar One) because the problem is at the developers end. Well, i'm sure im not alone in saying that if it doesnt work on your system DONT PUT IT LIVE. We are who are paying for our accounts are not your Beta testers, we are paying for a service that you advertise as functional. Requiring for your customers to suffer thogguh a buggy, non-functional and frankly unfinished front end GUI is unprofessional. (Speaking of unprofessional, am i the only one also put off by the fact that one of the only admins to actually respond to things is the one that has "Stop Whining" as an avatar? It's like working a food counter with a T-shirt that said "F*** off, I dont want to be here or listen to you".)

So, seeing as we cannot get the service we deserve as paying customers, I suggest that anyone that has had trouble with the customer service post in this thread. Hopefully a shareholder will notice, because nothing is going to get done until someone with their hands on the money gives a damn.

guys, i hate to sound like this every time i post out of tech, but this is the wrong place for this. this is a discussion, not a tech issue. put it in the right place. oh, and good luck getting the frenchies to read your english posts.

Jesus christ guy's it's the admins job to keep the forums organized etc. not help you sort out every single tech issue you have. Plus this should be in tech support

I am guessing the reason it was posted here is because tech forum is a ghost town...just a stage to post future unanswered posts...I think he just wanted someone on the planet to actually respond.

yeah i'm appalled too but luckily i'm less trusting so i tried before buying and was immediately disgusted and even more so when nobody even answered my post. even if they fix the problem, what they did is so damn stupid that i don't think i can ever forgive them. i hope this company goes bankrupt and another company takes its place. i don't want to give my money to help perpetuate such stupidity.

I'm havin the same problem, of corse i've never had the new plug in work period! i got myself the annual package which was the biggest mistake of my life since the friggen thing doesn't even work. When gametap wasn't a plug-in it was awsome. now it's crap, thank you game tap for changing something that worked to something that's garbage. that's awsome guys keep up the good work. i would like my money back but i know that's not gonna happen either i'm defeintly not recomending gametap to anyone!

Where did you find their number? I have been searching for it and haven't had any luck. The support page is down and won't work for me at all. I am fed up too.

i think at this point Gametap has screwed up so badly that they have so significantly damaged their reputation that if they ever do fix their problems then they will have to change the name Gametap to something else and pretend they are a different company and pretend that Gametap went bankrupt.

I had a very similar problem when I first started using the new browser service -- switched from Internet Explorer to FireFox and never had a problem since. Give it a shot...might help. Good luck!

Nice thought, but changing browsers didn't do a thing for me. I've always used FireFox. GameTap was wonderful before it became browser based - the tech people actually worked to FIX problems. Now... there aren't any detectable tech people.

The group that purchased the original GameTap should be strung up and burned. Given a chance, I'll do it.

My plug-in fixed somehow. Through an update, I am now able to play the games and whatnot. No thanks to gametap, of course.

Through an update provided by Gametap or something like a browser update? Cuz if it was a plugin update, then yes, it was thanks to Gametap. ;)

Still? If you have a technical issue why not make a support ticket in the end? My understanding (even if it is a bit dated) is that method was the best way to get a response, though it'd be a bit slower since it'd be an a queue.

I had more problem with gametap before the browser heh. The player gave me all kind of virtual disk mount errors. For some it got better others new bugs found. Most problems really is vista and vista user permisions with new "security" uh.

If you look on forum you see most are vista.

The old player was really cool and had great graphics. It most def frustrated me at times but compared to when it went away and the amount of time I had to wait for the new browser app to work properly it was way better...so far (gotta give the new browser a chance). On the old player I also liked how the games were divided into the various systems like for Sega, Neo-Geo, Genesis.....you get the point. Hope that helps.
