 Player Installation Loop
If after having installed the Gametap Player you are still unable to download a game as you are repeatedly required to install the Gametap Player itself, please try to follow these steps (we recommend using Mozilla Firefox for a higher success chance): - close Gametap player - open your Task Manager (Ctrl+alt+del) - In applications, please end YProxMainForm (if it is there), YProxAut.exe and (if available) ‘YPROXL~1.EXE’ - uninstall Gametap player - clean temporary internet files - close Mozilla Firefox - reopen Mozilla Firefox , Go to Tools--> Add ons and uninstall Yummy Conduit Player - delete the Gametap folder in C: - If you are using Vista (or Windows 7): Start/ Control Panel / Folder Options / View / Flag Show hidden files and folders - Still if you are using Vista or Windows 7, go to: C:\Users\[Your Windows User name]\AppData\Local\Yummy and delete the file YPlayer4.ygsq - delete the following folder: C:\Users\[Your Windows User name]\AppData\Local\Yummy\ (only for 32 bit systems) - delete C:\Program Files\Gametap Player - please also delete the ExentInf Class in C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files - delete the files SysCheck2.dll, syschkvc.dll, syschkvc.dll.manifest and YSys.dll that can be found in C:\Windows\system32\ - Go to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins and delete the file npExentCtl.dll Open your registry (click on Start --> Run.. and type regedit) and delete the following entries: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\YUMMY \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\YUMMY Interactive.inc - Restart your pc - Go back to our website, log on with your details and enter your My games section. You will find again the link to download the Player and install it, hopefully once and for all

 Re: Player Installation Loop
Any advice for IE users ? I tried those steps and only some of those files were there. I deleted the ones I found but the result is the same endless installation requests.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
I tried this procedure and am still having the installation loop problem. A lot of the files and all of the registry entries were not in the places the procedure said they would be. I assume the uninstaller successfully removed them.
I am using Firefox 8 and Internet Explorer 9. Both of them keep requesting that I install the software. I made sure the plugin was enabled in Firefox.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
Same here. The old Gametap player used to work- this one seems like it should have gone through QA before rolling it out. Cancelling my account for now.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
Ok, this solution worked for me.
Download the player again but just save it, do not run it from the web browser. Close all browser windows and go to the folder where you saved the player. Right click and choose "Run As Administrator"
Once I did this the install loop stopped and I was able to use Gametap.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
I have windows 7 home edition. I am using firefox.
1)Go to the firefox tab in the upper left hand corner. 2)options 3)under the main tab, general, click manage add ons. 4)another window will pop open and click the extensions tab 5)yummy player should be at the bottom of the list, click on enable. 6)restart mozilla 7)go to gametap.com and start downloading!
note: you must already have installed the gametap player to do these options.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
None of these steps have worked for me. I still get the same stupid loop.
I have had this service for about 2 years now and don't think I have used it once in the last year because I can't even get the stupid player to load.
I tried cancelling my account, but never even received a response back, so great.
Anyone have any other steps that might work? I have windows 7 64 bit and firefox.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
Huh, I use to have gametap a while ago but I un-subscribed because of tech issues. I just started a Premium Membership. I'm trying to follow the instructions, but I honestly don't know what I'm doing at all. The gametap player works with Internert Explorer, but not Chrome or Firefox. I would use Internet Explorer but it just keeps freezing, and I have tried re-installing it but it seems to keep freezing. Are there any tech-support guys or mods that can use a remote access or something to do this for my or does gametap not do that? Or maybe there is a easier solution, the Yummy player is in my add-ons in firefox but it says its not compatible with firefox.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
I'm pretty sure that the issue is with the latest Firefox update. Sometimes they fix it right away, sometimes it takes three or four days... which can be very annoying when no one at Gametap acknowledges the problem or provides public feedback. The only fix that I'm aware of is to either not update Firefox until you're sure that Gametap has updated the player or to use it in IE (Chrome is not supported so don't waste your time with it).
Also, I'm not really sure how often the admins actually check the forums, so the best way to communicate with them seems to be through a personal message (there is a post at the top of one of the threads identifying who to contact for what problems, not sure who's working the weekend shift, though).
And now we play the waiting game...

 Re: Player Installation Loop
You guys are so backholeasswards. I don't know why I keep giving you chances. I mean, it works in ghetto ass IE, but did it occur to anyone that most people these days prefer firefox? This used to be an awesome service. I wonder if it will get better when the technical staff at Metaboli graduates from college.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
Hi guys, The GameTap Player does not currently work with Firefox 10 and we ask you to roll back your version to 9.0.1 found here: http://www.oldapps.com/firefox.php?app= ... E2DB41A37CThis is of course temporary and we will soon be releasing a new Player that will be fully compatible with the latest future versions instantly, as the new player will be java based.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
I can confirm that this solved the problems I'd been having installing/using the gametap player after recently switching to Windows 7. Yay!

 Re: Player Installation Loop
Using Firefox 11.0, the fix is simple. Go manage add-ons and then add ons. Get the IE extension. Restart firefox after installing. Add the add on bar. Left click the firefoc icon in the right corner and it changes to internet explorer. Go to Gametap.com and you cn now download. It uses IE within Firefox.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
I have tried installing the new beta player. It gets to step 3 of the "install" section and freezes. I have updated my video card, downloaded the latest Java etc and nothing has worked. I also have tried to uninstall and go back to the old player and now I'm stuck in looping player H***. I have been a faithful member of Gametap for several years but this is really trying my patience. I am running Win 7 64 bit, AMD 6000 series video card, and all drivers up to date. I have tried every suggestion in both threads about looping player installs and also beta player troubleshooting and I can't get it to work. Any help would be appreciated.

 Re: Player Installation Loop
Edit: OK, after using the IE extension for a few minutes it freezes my browser whenever I try to download, so tried all of these fixes and nothing is working.
