What controller do you use with GameTap?
Hello all. This is my first post and I thought it would be interesting to ask what type of controller people were using with GameTap. Personally I had been using the GGE909 Recoil pad by GameElements which is semi decent knockoff of Playstation 2 style controllers, but has some issues. Namely the auto-rewinding ribbon style cable is a bit unruly to work with and if you happen to wind it the tiniest bit while playing it disconnects. Yesterday I noticed Wal-Mart was carrying a PS2/GC/XBOX controller adapter for $9.96 and decided to check it out. Cool piece of hardware and I am now using my Logitech Wireless Action PS2 Controller which I personally think is the best controller made for any system ever, hands down. I mounted the adapter which is a small white box with a PS2 controller port, Gamecube controller port, Xbox controller port and two USB ports in the 3.5 inch floppy bay of my PC case. So what type of controller is everyone else using, or do you just play with the keyboard and mouse?

I use the Logitech Rumblepad 2 for Gametap. It is an excellent controller with a very similar setup like the Playstation 2. Works great with Tomb Raider Legend.

wired Xbox 360 controller. works great with the arcade and console games, haven't tried it much with PC games but it does work really well with Tomb Raider Legend. I got a wireless adapter for my wireless xbox 360 controller but that doesn't seem to be working all that well yet.

I take turns between my Logitech Chillstream and my Cordless Rumblepad 2
But in the Tomb Raider Anniversary and Legends games, the XBOX 360 Controller types are native to those games. Just as they were on the 360 :)

Im with Airman, rumble pad 2 all the way. It's simple to use and setup. Plus I think i only spent like 20 bucks on it.

I use the P2500 Rumble, there's a new version that adds 2 shoulder buttons (2600 I think). The drivers for it breaks functionality, but Windows has it's own drivers for it and the controller works fine.

I concur. I think mine might have been 25 but I had a $10 off coupon. (maybe it was 15 and I had a $5 off) anyway. Cheap. And it's nice. I don't need to stinken features like rumbling and such. It works great with the exception of a few games that I just stick with the keyboard mouse set. (Like PoP: SoT.)

The Wired Xbox 360 controller. It works so well that I really haven't bothered with anything else.
But I do keep the DOA4 stick around for fighting games as well.

I use Playstation controllers with a USB converter. Works really well, especially for the PC games that are just badly ported PS2 games.

Re: What controller do you use with GameTap?
I should try the PS2 -> w/ USB converter on my Cordless PS2 Logitech Controller. That is my favorite controller i think. No clue why Logitech doesn't use the same one for PC.
I like the cordless Rumblepad 2, but not nearly as much as my cordless PS2 controller.

Re: What controller do you use with GameTap?
Unfortunately most PC controllers are based off of Sony's Dual Shock, except for the 360 controller which is super expensive. Dual Shock is the least comfortable controller of the past few gens, IMO, but at least the Logitech Dual Action 2 is slightly more rounded. Personally, I thought Gamecube had the best normal controller, and wish there was a GC based controller for PC.

I use a Logitech Cordless Rumbepad 2.
I started out using a PS2 to usb converter but it wouldn't work with Dreamcast games for some reason.

"Badly Ported PS2 Games"
The resolution in Shadow of Destiny is hit and miss.
Sometimes there are texture errors in Silen Hill 2 and 3 but only in lower resolutions.

Re: What controller do you use with GameTap?
I use the logitech dual action. It just like the PS1/2/3 controler's setup, so it is pretty natural to play with.

Re: What controller do you use with GameTap?
I actually use a pretty boss PS2 knockoff controller, complete with dual shock. admittedly all the buttons are superfluous on most games (save for prince of persia etc...) the dual joysticks are a lifesaver on Robotron and Karate Champ.
speaking of dual stick games.. I wonder if we'll ever get to see smash tv?

Re: What controller do you use with GameTap?
Best controller to use on the PC is the 360 one. Also, I would kind of like to use the PS3 one but you have to use the libusb drivers and that keeps my Zune from working.

Saitek P2500, from my old FFXI days, but it's a solid controller with decent response.

Re: What controller do you use with GameTap?
I'm looking for a good converter to connect my ps2 controller to my pc. Any recommendations? Or are they all pretty much the same?
