I think it was Smart Joy that was really good. Unfortunately they where made by the Lik-Sang guys and Sony was pressing some heavy litigation on them, so they declared bankruptcy and closed doors. You can find the SNES ones and XBOX ones on amazon but it seems the PSX/PS2 ones are gone. I dont know of any other ones that are great.

I need to get the Wireless Gaming Adapter for my PC cause I have a 37" LCD TV next to my PC and would love to have my PC on that with GT and play games on my couch :P

Logitech Rumblepad 2 is one of the best. I just wish they'd fix the square analog sticks areas.

I use a Logitech Rumblepad 2 that I won from a GameTap contest I won awhile back. It's a great controller.

I also enjoy that I can plug it in after I load GameTap. Anyone remember the days before USB where you had to restart everything to recognize a new controller?

Cheers,

As far as converters go, like I said I got mine at Wal-Mart. It was located near the gamepads, joysticks and such. It has a Playstation 2 port, a Gamecube port and an Xbox port. It outputs to standard USB. It's worked really well for me so far. Also to PenquinDude who likes the Gamecube controller, you could always use an adapter/converter like this and use the real deal. I tried my Gamecube controller with it and it works fine. I haven't tried a standard XBOX controller with it because I did the mod you can do to convert my XBOX controller it to standard USB by splicing the wires onto a USB cable. Now back to the converter. I don't know if you can get this one anywhere but Wal-Mart, it's in that horrid plastic clamshell type packaging and its just a little white box. It's put out by a company called GameMon. I managed to find it on the web just now actually, being sold by a company called FUtime manufacturing limited. Here is the link: http://www.futime.com/display/ft8d91_ps2_xbox_gc_to_pc-usb_converter.shtml And here is a picture of the device: !http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b155/Squall4226/universal_converter_FT8D91-big.jpg!

I don't know anything about that company, and I'm certainly not recommending them. They could be legit or maybe not, I don't know heh. The product is legit though. The only hang up is the driver disc it comes with is one of those small size CD's and my main computer wouldn't recognize it at all. I got it to work by reading it in my laptop and burning a full size CD of it. It doesn't require the drivers to work, the only thing they do is make the vibration work through force feedback. Anyway, that's all the information I've got. Hope it helps.

Most of the time, I just play with my keyboard.

On games that just don't work with the keyboard, though, like Tony Hawk games, I'll get my 360 controller.

I stick with my good old nYko Air Flo. It's set up almost exactly like a standard PS2 controller, with a few extra buttons and I've really gotten spoiled by that fan keeping my hands cool while I play. Seems like a silly gimmick, until you actually try using it. :P

How do all you guys find PS2 controllers comfortable? An Xbox Large may be huge, but it's still more rounded and hand fitting than the POS Dual Shock. And I'll have to look for that at Wal*Mart, but I'm not to sure most games will recognize it, or my emulators(Systems I own, I just have too many to hook up to my switcher, so I unplug the oldest ones an emulate them.), which is my main concern.

I'm a fan of my Saitek P2500 as well. So much so that I went and bought another one a little earlier tonight. Best advice I can give for that particular one is to go with the standard Windows drivers instead of installing Saitek's included drivers. You won't have the shift-key functionality, but in all honesty, I think that would just be confusing anyway. With the default Windows drivers, the shift key and the Digital key get recognized as actual buttons instead of just modifier keys, so they work really well as a Select/Start combo. GameTap defaults the Start button to the shift key anyway, and installing Saitek's drivers just messes with that default configuration.

First off the Logitech Wireless action is way more rounded than the standard ps2 controller. I like the button style on a PS2 controller, but I agree the Sony ones and lots of the generics are too square. This is the one i use:

Will the adapter work with your emulators? I don't know. What it does is install three generic gamepads called "PS to PC Converter" "GC to PC converter" "Xbox to PC Converter". The PS2 control installs as a generic 12 button gamepad with two sticks and a hat switch (d-pad) and force feedback. The GC control installs as a generic 8 button gamepad with two sticks (the C-stick is mapped as an analog stick) and a hat switch. I actually just tried a couple of retail version games with it. Doom 3 and Unreal Tournament 2004. Neither would recognize my PS2 controller. :( It is recognized in Tomb Raider: Legend and some of the other Windows games I've played through GameTap though. In the end, the adapter was only $9.96 which I think was a pretty good deal for it, even if I only use it with GameTap. Cause I love GameTap.

There is one, but it's not the most standard UI in the world. When you reply to someone, hit the big fat " in the formatting bar of your reply. That'll suck in the whole post you're replying to. Unfortunately, you don't have the option to quote multiple posts, but at least you can quote one.

You can, it's just a pain. Use the Quote command to generate the correct form and then just follow through with what you need (Remember to cut and paste first)

Observe as I said above (Re my logtech controller):

>I concur. I think mine might have been 25 but I had a $10 off coupon. (maybe it was 15 and I had a $5 off) anyway. Cheap. >And it's nice. I don't need to stinken features like rumbling and such. It's tedious I'd admit, but that's what Tabbed Browsing is for.

I also use the Wireless 360 controller with the wireless receiver for Windows. It has worked for Gametap on both Vista and XP. You just have to have the latest drivers, and as previously mentioned, make sure to have it connected (both the receiver and the controller) before starting a game. Heck, I would even recommend connecting it before starting up Gametap for best results. You can always try Xpadder, but so far Gametap seems to do an excellent job recognizing the controller and layouts.

I use a Saitek X52 FCS for anything involving flight. Unfortunately I have nothing else to use in terms of console and ports.

Hey jturner3--just wanted to say thanks--followed your link in your post and got my wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 controller working with GameTap! Very cool. Now I'll get the media center stuff working and do this on the big screen HDTV! awesome and thanks.

i have that same Logitech PS2 controller and it is my favorite in terms of heft and just overall feel.

bummer that it sounds like the USB converter just doesnt fully deliver functionality.

I'm starting to use my 360 controller a lot more. Very nice to use, and it lets me sit back a little more when I play.
