Neither are we, but this is one of those times when it's out of our hands.

I'm glad for the time that we had with Capcom. It was a lot of fun. Sorry the party's over.

 Re: Sega and Capcom
I take a little solace in the fact that I'm not really going to miss about half of those games.

 Re: Sega and Capcom
So I've been talking to the Capcom Admins and here's what they said: Sven: "I can confirm this but also need to clarify the situation. Not ALL Capcom titles are being removed, only classic arcade titles controlled by Capcom Japan. Capcom Entertainment titles (Street Fighter/Final Fight, etc.) will remain on the service as will all current PC releases from both Japan and CEI (Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV, Devil May Cry 4, Lost Planet Colonies, Dark Void, MotoGP, etc.). The reason for the change is that the contract has expired (I believe it was a five year contract) and Japan has opted not to extend it. I can't give any more detail than that." So I guess some of the Capcom games will still be there. Here's the link to the full thread: http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/ ... etap?sdb=1

So I guess that Capcom would rather people play those games on MAME for free instead of making some revenue from them. Oh well, at least I have all of the Capcom and Street Fighter collections that were on the PS2.

Street Fighter and Final Fight are still up? This isn't half as bad as I first thought then.

Actually, no, those titles will be leaving the service tomorrow with the rest. Only Street Fighter and Final Fight games are staying.

 Re: Sega and Capcom
I need to keep up with the news more, I didn't even know this was happening.
Fortunately, if you have a PS2 most of those old Capcom games are still readily available, and for $40 total or less if you shop around. There are some heartbreaking gaps left, though, like Cyberbots and Darkstalkers.
This loss combined with the dramatic ratcheting back of Virtual Console releases on the Wii ever since WiiWare picked up steam leaves a bad taste in the mouth of the retrofan.

Because most of the great games are retro games. Just look at how poor this decade has been compared to the 90s, or even the 80s.

 Re: Sega and Capcom
Its bad enough that more classic games have not been added for a very long time, now they are taking away the only games that were worth taking out a classic account for. Don't expect me to renew my subscription and I bet many retro gamers will be leaving as well. Extremely disappointed.
