 Re: Sega and Capcom
Ok all, I have an update, but it's unfortunately not good news. The Capcom games are now officially leaving the service on April 1. So you now have about a week and a half to play through these games before they are gone.
I have no information yet on the Sega games, so they're continuing to stick around for the time being.

 Re: Sega and Capcom
At the moment, yes. However, the situation with Sega is still shaky, and I can't guarantee anything, so the Shining Force games may have to be removed in the near future.

Anyone have any especially recommended Capcom games I should check out before the opportunity disappears?

I'm really going to miss Magic Sword: Heroic Fantasy and Black Tiger. I loved those games in the arcades. They're two of the reasons I got Gametap in the first place. Black Tiger was the very first game I downloaded as part of their "try any 5 games free for a month" deal way back when. And let's not forget the classics Ghosts N' Goblins and Ghouls N' Ghosts. This is worse than when we lost Midway. The arcade section is practically gone. They really need to replace some of these lost games!

Play through Mercs. It can be done in about a 1/2 hour. Also try Darkstalkers, Magic Sword and Ghouls and Ghosts.

I told my GF (I'm male but I'm using her account) about the cutoff date and she's convinced of this too..

Here I've been thinking you're female. Just like compumom. Do you both post under this account? You should have your girlfriend set you up a subaccount with your own name so people won't think you're a woman. As far as it being an April Fools joke, why would they set it up so far in advance? This thread was originally posted on Feb 22nd...

The only one I can remember is RedEye's Captain McGrampa, but I think that was 2 years ago...

Funny funny. Subaccounts are overrated, don't give in to the hype. Hrm, loss of Capcom games gives me small tears in the corner of my eyes.

I don't consider Captain McGrampa an April Fool's joke. I see it as an experiment of awesomeness to see what kind of community involvement they could generate (it was "off the charts" IIRC).

 Re: Sega and Capcom
Come on, guys. I understand why you're holding out hope, but think through this logically. Why would a company, whose business is to make money and make the subscribers happy, say something like this as a joke? Who would laugh? Enjoy the games while they're here. Hopefully Gametap can continue to secure contracts with the various companies and conglomerates who hold the rights to the games you love.
