I've noticed tha McAfee hits on Artemis, as in, deletes it. May have broken my Assassin's Creed. Edit: Yeah, it saw a virus... in the launcher.

Thanks for that info, CSQcoa! I seem to remember McAfee giving me crap about GT awhile ago too, but I can't quite recall. I can't believe so many expensive AVs are giving us so many false positives. What are they spending all our money on anyway?

I have Avira and it detected Malware... TR/Crypt.CFI.Gen was found in the file C:\user\***\GT\games\games...\splash.exe I wonder what game its having a fit with hmm oh well the only real way to get this to go away is to shut off Avira anyone know how to have anything in the GT folder accepted with Avira?

If you tell me the full pathname of that splash.exe file, I should be able which game it belongs to... But like you say, just tell Avira to ignore all GT files since it constantly finds viruses in new games... I use Avira so I can most likely help you Viperony. How to add GT to your Avira 10 exceptions lists1. Confirm what your GT games folder's path is ("C:\GAMETAP\GAMES" by default.) 2. Right-click the red and white umbrella and click "Configure AntiVir". 3. Make sure "Expert mode" is checked. 4. Expand "Guard", then "Scan", then click on "Exceptions" and add your GT games folder here. 5. (Optional, if you don't want your scans picking up false positives as well): Expand "Scanner", then "Scan", then click on "Exceptions". Unfortunately in this case, you have to add all of the false positive matches individually. In my experience, the only files that get false alarms are the encrypted EXE application files. For example, to stop Virtual Skipper 5 from being reported as a virus, I added Vsk5.exe and Vsk5Launcher.exe under "Files objects to be omitted by the guard". (After a scan, Avira will tell you exactly what files need to be added to this list.) 8. Click OK to accept everything. Always be careful when running AV scans. By default, Avira does not quarantine/remove anything until you tell it to, so pay attention to what it finds!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Did AVG find a virus in a GT software folders or in one of the games? If so, do you remember which game?

Mcafee keeps trying to delete fishdom.exe for fishdom whenever I try to launch it, claiming it is some artemis trojan.

Well, I have tested virtually all downloads with a rather new AV called VIPRE and found no problems with it.

That's because Mcafee is overpriced crap. I honestly don't know how they're still in business, given all of the superior free virus protection software out there. I guess there's just the portion of people who either don't know any better or feel that they can't trust anything that's free.
Seriously, switch to avast! and you'll never look back.

Business customers. But if you are NOT a business customer, switch to Avast, or Avira, or AVG, or Microsoft Security Essentials, or Comodo (get Malwarebytes Anti-malware to go with it), or anything else.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 just got a hit off my AVG for Generic19.BFYV Never Had a virus detected before.
FYI I avoid McAffe and Norton like it has Leporacy....intertwines within your system slows it all down and is a complete pain to remove them from the system.

In my experience, Avira is big on the false positives as well. I don't recommend it to anyone who can't tell the difference.

Re: Some AntiVirus/Malware programs falsely detect viruses on GT
I suggest adding your GT games and GT program folders to user anti-virus program's exceptions list. Some AVs have 2 exception lists, 1 for the scanner and 1 for the resident shield. Add all GT folders to both. If you have Avira or AVG, I can tell you exactly how, if necessary.

Quick question: does AVG interrupt the downloading of "infected" games?

Well, I managed to download Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Deluxe while AVG was on once I added my GT games folder to AVG's exceptions, check my original post again. EDIT: First post updated, Avira exceptions instructions edited, AVG instructions added.

Hi, just wanted to say thank you, you're really helping us giving the games and updating the first post. I imagined myself doing a search in the whole forum in order to find the false positives, but I may have not to \o/
