Post "The Fight Before Christmas" concept forum
As you may (or may not) know by now, I have recently posted a game idea to "Box art #2". If that wasn't good, a friend of mine submitted that same concept to Blizzard entertainment. That same game is now being developed. Of course, I'm not all brains here, I'm looking for suggestions from anyone and everyone. If you have an idea you'd like to see in a game, post it here. I'll look over this daily and send those ideas i like best to my friend. The ones he likes best will be added in the game.

Here's what we need for ideas:
1) level layouts
2) weapons
3) the design of the teleport flags
4) powerups (conecpt and design)
5) locations for levels (it's in an alternate reality, but it can be any backdrop)

What we don't need:
1) characters
2) bosses
3) enemies

Here's the basic idea of the game:
Backstory of the game world: It was December 15, 3020 and you and your college buddy,Mark and Tyler, were out partying when Tyler sees a shiny piece of what seems to be paper on the ground. You read the paper out loud, "Expecto Teleportus". Suddenly everything turns black and you and your friend are pulled into another dimention. It is here, that both of you must fight your way through monsters and the flames of hell. Will you find your way back to your world before it's too late? (you can choose your character)

Hero/Heroes origin, powers, and weapons:
"Mark": He was always a city boy. Mark was born in the most populated part of New York City and grew up in the same area. He never felt lonely, he was always the popular kid at school. When he graduated high school, he got an offer to go to the University of Miami where he plays for the football team. During a football game against Georgia State, he injured his collarbone and spent a week in the hospital. He has powers noone among his friends understands, such as: flight, teleportation and the ability to withstand alot of pain. He always carries his trusty 2X4 and can also operate rifles, machine guns and pistols.
"Tyler": Born and raised in Hollywood, Florida, his dream was to go to college. Now he has that chance. Tyler got accepted to the University of Miami and met Mark on his first day. They were friends from the start. Unlike Mark, Tyler has a deep secret; however like Mark, it's his powers. Tyler can levitate objects, has an IQ of 400 and can call the spirits of passed family/friends. He is average when it comes to firearms; he can hold a pistol and fire well, but hand him a machine gun, he's a lousy shot.

Villian/Enemies abilities, motives, and accomplishments:
Basher: Most common enemy in the game. They love to hold clubs, bats and anything else they can grab. They're not that fast, but they love to attack in swarms of 3 or more. They only love one thing: killing, do your best to try to stop them.
Rammer: You'll encounter your first Rammer in level 3. They're invinceable to almost everything (Make sure you grab that rocket launcher when the level starts). They attack in groups of 2, sometimes 3, and ram you into walls and other objects.
Zombie: The living undead comes, what will you do? Here's a hint: don't let them get close. They are the slowest in the game, but they also attack in swarms of 15+. You'll start seeing them when you get close to the fire part of the game. They love to feast on brains and will not stop until they get what they want. It's easy to kill them, but it's only temporary. When one dies, 2 more spawn. They spawn in random places in the level, so be prepared.
Bats: They're not ordinary bats, Dr. Grimm genitally modified them to kill humans. They want blood, and there's no stopping them once they locate you. They're very small, but easily seen (look for bright yellow in dark caves). Your best bet is to sneak behind them and take them out at a distance.
Dr. Grimm: Just another mad scientist, he loves to tamper with genetics. His goal in his mind is to genitally modify our world. He will do anything to beat you, and he will. When you reach him, he will abduct Tyler and you must fight Tyler before you can fight The Doctor. He is the reason Rome fell in history, and he wants to destory everything this time.

Overall conflict that is happening:
Mark and Tyler must find their way back home after being pulled into another dimention. Along the way, they meet alot of weird characters and start to fight about who they should trust. When they split up, you are left to fend for yourself. When your character reaches the final level, he is confronted by his "friend" (the one you didn't choose) and they must fight. When you finish the game, a portal opens and it seems you are home.

Mission objectives for levels:
Find a teleport flag hidden somewhere in the level.

Controls:
This game would be controlled by the mouse and keyboard. layout below:
arrow keys: move/sidestep (depends on setting in options menu)
move mouse: look around
left mouse button: fire weapon/use power
mouse wheel: select weapon/power
right mouse button: when in clear area: examines area in front of you
right mouse button: when in an area with enemies: shows enemy data (strengths, weaknesses etc.)

Any and all ideas welcome! Once we get a few levels done, I'll submit the demo to GameTap indies. When the game is totally done (probably by june '09), it'll hopefully be on the indies list. So any ideas please respond!

what kind of game is it?is it isometric perspective like alien/zombie shooter?(thats what it sounds like too me)

and you should be able to find nails for marks 2X4 that make it more powerful or give it special effects like fire,ice,ect...
they should be permanent but you only have a limited number of slots and maybe you could find a drill or a hammer to make more slots.

Post Re: "The Fight Before Christmas" concept forum
I think that this game should mainly focus on like what character you pick, basically if you pick Tyler the nmaybe Tyler is more of the magic guy and instead of using crossbows and guns and stuff he just uses magic, while the other guy isn't a very magical kinda of guy but is very strong and uses lots of weapons or something, just an idea. Or maybe both can use magic and weapons but Tyler may be better at magic while other guy is better weapons but both can use both magic and weapons. lol. Anyways I think it would be cool if you could meet other characters in the game or stray animal/s and they have abilities to like gopher can go undergroud not be spotted then pull an enemy under ground or something.

Or if you are going to have the entire level wintery and icy mabey you are on thin sheet of ice and if you use fire / melt power then you can melt the ice where you click so that you can make tactics and stuff and if you trap yourself then just use the ice power up to make ice again to make you own path. So basically below you is big black endless hole and you are on ice, form the world to your advantage and make you own path and make enemies fall below you (literally lmao) . Anyways if thats the setting then I think that this would be a cool idea. Now this idea would only work if it was 2d zombie shooter like game. But if not just tell me i've got plenty ideas where I come. yah!

Before anyone gets too excited...sorry. This is not how the world works. The video game industry is not one where you can "submit ideas" and have people make a game for you.

You may keep this thread open for as long as you'd like, but I don't want anyone to be under the impression that they are actively involved in a game being made by Blizzard. eagleflies14, I think you're at the butt end of somebody's joke if you think that anyone, especially an employee at a game development studio, looked at your idea and started developing the game.

Like I said, you may keep this discussion going, but I want everyone to understand that they are brainstorming on a dream game, and not one actually in development.

Will this be coming out after Diablo III and Starcraft II or did they put them on hold to get this out the door?

So I recently saw a commercial for a powderpuff girls video called "Twas the fight before Christmas" And more coincidently, while googling the title I ran across this video from an independent film contest. What gives?? I think there is more to this story than we are being told.

Oh, yeah, Dave and Mark. You know. Dave. From Blizzard. and Mark. Making a game with Blizzard. Yeah, that's the ticket. :/

Here's a question for you: how much are you going to make off this? Surely you made a deal with Blizzard before you started production.

OK guys, we know the actual development of this game is questionable, but I don't want to turn this thread into everyone ganging up on eagleflies14. Like I said, if and when eagleflies14 is somehow able to prove that his game idea is being made (which would be a historical first, by the way, and would usher in a new golden age of video game development), then we can treat it like a real game in this thread. Until that happens, this thread is open to game ideas for his dream game under the pretense that this is all in good fun, and not as if you are contributing to an actual game development process.

hey all, eagle asked me to answer the questions.
1) the contract that mark and corry "eagleflies" signed said (basically) non profit game. i assume that means that they will not get anything from blizzard.
2) it seems corry wasn't clear about the agreement that he has with dave. mark and corry do all the work, dave is more of a voice of reason.
ok,i hope that clears a little of the contravercy. if not, eagle returns monday to try to clear things up.

peace 4 now, kris

Post Re: "The Fight Before Christmas" concept forum
hey Buddha, i guess i didn't clarify enough when i posted the first message in this thread. here's how i should've worded it:

"If you may or may not know, i have recently posted a game idea to box art #2 in the daily game events forum here on game tap. When a friend of mine saw it (mark), he forwarded it to his uncle (which is dave). he liked it so much, he agreed to be a "voice of reason" in production of the game. the deal we have right now is mark and i create the content and dave programs it into 1 interactive file (which will be the game)."

i'd go more into detail, but that leaves less room for details. here's what we did this weekend:

drew up tyler, then scrapped it
designed level 2, sent it to dave
mark has an idea for the rammers (enemies), but hasn't drawn up anything yet
bashers have been scrapped (too common in games)
and finally, we started the nail design for mark's 2X4 (fire is drawn, ice is next)

ok, i hope that clears up a little of the confusion. if any more problems persist, let me know. i won't be at home tomorrow, but i have a psp i can use to check this thread.

see you tomorrow

that is actually what i thought happened with this game
that eagle or someone he knew, knew dave already not that they went through blizzard.
so as long as thats true this game is probably real.

whoa, best design that we've seen so far! nicely done. that'll definitely be in the top 3 designs. we'll probably finalize the design on Wednesday. thank you for the idea.

EDIT: well, mark got impatient. he said that that flag you posted will indeed be the design on the flag. the shape will be a fancy triangle (i haven't seen the jpeg yet). so you submitted 2 ideas and they're both going to be in it, that must be a record!

ok, those nonbelievers out there, doubt all you want, but i have come bearing screenshots of items. things like the teleport flag:

if it doesn't show up, i'll put up a direct link

maybe a little "box art" will sound good (this isn't final, but this is the basic design)

again, direct link if that fails. enjoy the great images, i'll see you around

EDIT: we have designed Dr. Grimm, i'll post as soon as i can
