I'm getting it for freelancer now. I have a Win 7 64bit system. I have support ticket out but I usually have more luck with the forums.

Hey!

Try Gametap on a different browser, also turn off your Firewall/Internet security to see if this was getting in the way the problem.

You may also need .NET Framework 4.0 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... 1f31ab88b7), please download it and install it and see if makes any difference.

If it still does not help, please restart your pc. Then without opening Metaboli make your way over to: "C:\Users\[NAME]\AppData\Local\Yummy" (Dont include the "").

In the Yummy folder there should be another folder named Games and a file named YPlayer4.ygsq. You will need to have hidden files and folders turned on to see this file, that can be turned on by going to Control Panel, then to Folder Options (scroll down the list and choose to show hidden files/folders).

Delete the file, then restart your computer again.

Then when you next run Gametap, you will have an empty games list, but don't worry: simply head to the download page for the game you want to play, click the download button and it should automatically be added to your games list again, fully downloaded and ready to play.

Okay tried it with firefox 9 and repaired the NET framework and deleted/redownloaded the game, and deleted the yummy file but to no avail. :cry:

This game needs the latest version of Dirext X as stated on the games details page, make sure you have that.

Also it wouldn't hurt to update your graphics card drivers as well.

Are you able to run other games? With similar specs?

Hey thanks for trying and I mean that. I can run Shogun 2 at highest setting with no problem.(The most demanding game I have). As Freelancer is over 8 years old I don't think the specs are the problem. It's far more likely a compatbility issue. Not to mention the fact the game won't play at all because the Yummy player won't launch it. I had the same problem with DOW a while ago and the awesoem C_Eddy (however he spells it) Showed me how to fix my registry so the player could launch the game. I'll probably toss this one in the "can't play on Gametap" pile and move on. Oh well maybr the new player will help. Oh and Rogue Trooper refuses to play now. It played perfectly the first time but litterally the second time I tried to play it I get the loading screen accompained with the windows error sound and the game freezes! Anyways If you can help I appreciate it and if not then thanks for trying. It's much better than the brush off we are used to.

Latest attemt at launching Rogue Trooper was sucessful. Maybe you helped after all!

LOL I had to laugh when I launched a game with the new player! Well that's one way to get rid of the "never ending green circle!"! :lol: Seriously though the new player looks awsome. I love not having to mess with with the "yummy brothers anymore". Haven't tried any of the games I couldn't play before though.

Freelancer appears to be missing an executable. Usually I can try to launch games through windows but of course it tells me I need the player. Can someone that can play freelancer tell me where and what the executable file is that is used to play the game?

I've noticed for this game upon launch a box appears saying that Freelancer does bot recognize your video card, (It's quite an old game). You have to click yes to continue here. You can also click a box so that it doesn't give you this message the next time you launch the game.

The point is I think the your game is not launching because something is blocking this box from opening. Can you deactivate any pop up blocker you have on your browser and/or Internet security.

If it still doesn't work restart your PC in Windows light mode to minimize to extra programs/software getting in the way of this launch.

Let me know if you need info on Windows light mode.

Ok, brand new to service, haven't gotten it to work. With the regular player, I got a neverending green circle on 5 different games, they never launched. With the beta player, I get a Launching Game Now with squares in motion, but nothing ever happens. I did a full wipe of the gametap player, reinstalled the beta, still the error. I have up to date video drivers, directx 9 and 10, and am launching in both IE and Chrome in Admin mode. Now I'm just stuck wanting to play some games!

So, Puzzle Quest 2, Gem Smashers, Tropico 4 launches just fine; Freelancer, Titan Quest, and the beta test game Treasures of Montezuma 3 all just sit at launching game. I see the hard drive light for a bit like they want to launch, but never do. Help!!

1 - Go to the Start menu click on Run and type in MSCONFIG then click on Ok

2 - In the MSCONFIG menu go to the startup section and remove the ticks from each of the boxes down the left hand side

3 - Click on OK Then in the pop-up asking you to restart your PC, click Restart, (saving anything else you were working on beforehand)

4 - On restart Windows will show you the following window, click OK

5 - Your Taskbar should now be empty and your system fully optimized

Note:
This procedure deactivates your antivirus. Use this Safe Mode only to test how your PC runs the games.

Do NOT use the Safe mode setup to browse the internet or check your e-mail without re-activating your antivirus, firewall etc.

Re-activating these programs is easy: just go back to MSCONFIG (as described above) and re-tick all the boxes for the programs.

If you manage to run the game while in Light mode, by a process of elimination you can then activate or de-activate those that prevented the games from executing.

I have done that, and used the beta site to reinstall. I can run most games, but the game I wish to play the most is Freelancer, and it just sits wanting to launch it, and never does. I do not run any firewalls or virus/internet/popup blockers, using Chrome. I have a Mobile NVIDIA 630m as a video card.
