Post The never ending green circle
I cannot download or lanch games. When I try I get a never ending green circle (NEGC).

I have seen this mentioned in several other threads but it is not the main focus of the thread so I thought that I would start a new one specifically for this problem. (Standard apologies if it is redundant to another thread I couldn't find).

There seems to be 4 different cases of this problem. Some folks just have trouble downloading and getting the NEGC but can play already downloaded games. Others are just the opposite, they can download but when they try to play a game they get the NEGC. Third, there are those plagued with both of the above. Finally, there are those who just get the NEGC on specific games.

Hopefully, somebody out there has a solution to this issue.

The following is my trouble.

EDIT: I have solved my problem with tip 8 below. I have removed my problem information but since this might help others I will continue to monitor the thread from time to time and add other suggestions and solutions to this first post.

Recommendations I have tried (they might work for you).
1) It was suggested to CTRL + F5 to dumpt he cache (is that right?) and refresh the page.
2) Do #1 then open the task manager and end the processes YProxAut.exe and YPROXL~1.exe. Then attempt to download.
3) Uninstall and reinstall the GT player.
EDIT - added the following (from Admin suggestions)
4) Check ifyou have installed everything asked on the game page (ex. : OpenAL, DirectX9, PhysX, ...). The never-ending green circle can appear when some requirments for the game are still missing.
5) Plus try even running the game from the Gametap\Games using the game launcher 9/10 times you will get the error : this file requires the yummy player - which is normal and it will close but sometimes it will also prompt you to update the Tages DRM or even give you a specific error message.
6) Make sure you are running everything in Administrator mode. (I'm not sure what this means - it might be an windows 7 or vista thing - I am still XP).
7) Make sure you have the .NET framework 4.0
8) Restart your pc. Then without opening Metaboli make your way over to: C:\Users\[NAME]\AppData\Local\Yummy . In the Yummy folder there should be another folder named Games and a file named YPlayer4.ygsq. (You will need to have hidden files and folders turned on) Delete the file, then restart your computer again.
Then when you next run Metaboli, you will have an empty games list, but don't worry: simply head to the download page for the game you want to play, click the download button and it should automatically be added to your games list again, fully downloaded and ready to play. If you do not have the path above try c:\Gametap\Games and look for YPlayer.ygsq and do the same.
9) check your anit-virus software to see if it has detected something as a false positive and blocked it.
EDIT: Added from suggested below
10) I have noticed after the switch, ALL of my old games have had this problem and that new downloads go to C:/gametap/games/*game name or abbreviation* so I deleted all of my old games, including saved games, and redownloaded them. It no longer had the endless green circle problem.
EDIT: Added Apr 12 2011 from a successful solution below.
11) Delete all cookies.

Number 8 is what finally worked for me with the alternate path.

Any other recommendations?

Hopefully we can find a solution to this problem. I especially hope that if you are having this problem that by the time you come here this thread has the solution.

Thank you to all the savvy geniuses out there that continue to make my infernal machine go.

PS: as always stay on topic. If you are having some problem other than the NEGC do not bring it up here.

Good thread.........I am getting the NEGC when I try to initially launch certain games. I am having that problem right now with Painkiller:Overdose.

Post Re: The never ending green circle
Was just about to start a thread about Call of Duty 2 when i found this one. I can download the game just fine. However when I push the green play button I get the never ending green circle that we all know and love. I've used the direct x installer already and that didn't solve the issue. So lets add COD 2 to the list.

Anyone else been able to get this game to work yet??

2) Do #1 then open the task manager and end the processes YProxAut.exe and YPROXL~1.exe. Then attempt to download.

3) Uninstall and reinstall the GT player.
- No help. I did this but kept all my games when I did so. Would it be worth trying again and deleting all my games at the same time? I'm in an okay position to do this now (only one game mid play).

Hi all,

Check your running everything in Administrator mode, even going into the GameTap folder and making sure the .exe files are all set to run in Administrator mode.

Plus try even running the game from the Gametap\Games using the game launcher 9/10 times you will get the error : this file requires the yummy player - which is normal and it will close but sometimes it will also prompt you to update the Tages DRM or even give you a specific error message.

Also can you try just downloading a small casual game like Puzzle Quest and see if you have same issue.

Check this post out as well as it has all the links you need for all files needed to run the games and links to other threads with more troubleshootings tips.

windows-7-game-compatability-list-t38205.html

Also make sure you have Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package for your appropriate system installed you can find these http://www.microsoft.com/downloads by doing a wee search :)

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks

How do you run in Administrator mode again on WIN 7 (might be the problem) as well as where would I go to get the latest TAGES Driver which is definitely the last driver I needed to update I'm thinking. At least 80% of the games work for me even CofJ2 along with Kane and Lynch which alot of folks had issues......Thanks.

Hope this is useful.

One thing I have noticed is that after the switch, ALL of my old games have had this problem (though not all of the games that had this problem were my old games) and that new downloads go to C:/gametap/games/*game name or abbreviation* so I deleted all of my old games, including saved games, and redownloaded them. It no longer had the endless green circle problem (atleast for Mount & Blade as it is the only one I tried so far.)

BTW, I am running XP for those who think it is a Win 7 problem only.

Option 8 worked for me. But, I don't know what caused the problem. Games were running and downloading fine in Win7 for me for a while, but all of a sudden nothing would download or play. Thanks for the solution though.

Post Re: The never ending green circle
Hey all.

Having a hard time figuring out what's going on. I go to the Unlimited Play on my account and try to download a game. It prompts me to install the player. I then follow the install. My browser closes (I.E. 8) and it prompts to take me back to the Gametap page. I click next and login to Gametap after the new browser comes up. I go back to the game (I've tried many games) and attempt to Download (I checked and made sure the player was in my start menu, etc) and am now prompted to download the player again. I've gone through this multiple times. Each time to completed the process and it all starts over again.

I downloaded Revo Uninstaller and uninstalled the Gametap Player in advance mode (so it scanned any leftovers, etc.). I double checked to make sure the Gametap folder was gone. I even ran CC Cleaner again to clear out my I.E. temp stuff (cookies, temp files, and everything else there), used CC Cleaner to clean up any registry entries (of which there were none after Revo did the job) and tried again.

I'm stuck in the same loop now. Download player. Go through steps. Download player again. Same thing happens. Did it a 3rd time. The thing still thinks I haven't updated to the player, but it's clearly installed and it even left an icon on my desktop.

Any help is appreciated. I've only seen one other person complain about this so far, and no one responded. So I'm trying here.

Thanks in advance!

Post Re: The never ending green circle
Well, I've opened a new thread with my previous post (2 posts up from this). If anyone on this thread knows anything about Gametap telling me to download the player after it is already installed, please let me know.

To add:

I am using Avast Antivirus and have received no warnings regarding virus protections.
I ran the installation of the Gametap player as the administrator of my computer.
I ran Internet Explorer 8 as the administrator of my computer.
Result: Gametap is again telling me to download and install the player when I either go to a) "My Games" or b) Click 'download' for any game.

If there is no resolution to this within the next couple of days, I am open to suggestions of other sites out there similar to Gametap. I've been a member for awhile, but there's no reason to continue my subscription for something that doesn't work.

Thanks in advance!

Just confirmation #8 worked for Win Vista. I was able to skip the first restart. Thanks for posting!

The forum is nice but it doesn't have all the answers. I did send a tech support ticket in.Within hours received a response saying I would hear back by the end of that day. 5 hours later I had an email from Scott giving me the info that I needed having to do with the "never ending green loading circle" that several people have issues with.It turned out to be my computer needed a special download and that I needed to get rid of a file. I followed instructions and I was able to play games and not look and at a loading screen. If you are still having problems and need the file, I can find it again and send you the link in a pm.I wasn't sure if I should just post it.In a quick glance i haven't seen anybody mentioning the file to be downloaded. If it was my apologizes.I know how fustrating it is to play and then not be able to play all of a sudden:)

BRAVO to the Gametap support team
GOOD LUCK!! Hope it works!
ME...I will be playing a game...

Post Re: The never ending green circle - for all new games, again
Unfortunately I have been having this issue with 95% new games and have tried all suggestions (And more from support).

I'm a developer and can go the troubleshooting distance, but am tired of putting my machines at risk just to play games I can get elsewhere. I've never run into so many bugs in an application that I couldn't fix/find someone to fix.

Have tried on FOUR different systems, Windows XP (sp3), Windows Vista 32(sp2), Windows 7. All systems are more than powerful/big/fast enough, have mixture of ATI & Nvidia, AMD & Intel, all security disabled when necessary. No errors in logs. Downloaded & reinstalled GT player, games, game requirements (i.e. AEGIA, PhyX stuff) done unnecessary updates of .NET, compatibility mode, you name it, I've tried it- multiple times. Tweeked GFX & Core settings in different ways.

Weeks of GT support attempts for brawe.exe (& testing two others) resulted in nothing. The Witcher worked on ONE system, but not all.

Games that get the constant loading screen (the game .exe starts up and can be seen running in the windows taskmanager, but control is never handed over to the OS, as if the new yummy launcher (released 5/10) is the cause- no problems before then). These issues were non-existent before switching to the web-based player & yummy.

Recent game attempts with above symptoms:

Fable
Kaptain Brawe
The Witcher (plays on vista 32 with Nvidia, but no other system)
Broken Sword (director's cut)
Art of Murder

ANYONE able to get these working?

Unfortunately I'm paying both for Gametap and Steam - because when GT fails, I buy instead on Steam (I need an offline mode anyway since I travel alot & GT download to buy isn't what I want, nor do I trust the stability given the unlimited play mode issues).

Really would like to support GT, but if I can't use the unlimited service with better dependability (with an offline mode too), I cannot justify continuing it.

Post Re: The never ending green circle
^^^^^^
After reading this, I'm not sure what to think about this service. I'll do my best and give you some ways to go, but you've probably tried most of them. To answer your question, I've tried two of these games (Kaptain Brawe and The Witcher) and have personally had no issues with both of them, and I have about 50 games now. My experience with Gametap has been the complete opposite. I can recommend what works best with my system and how people have solved this before, hoping this will help in some way. It doesn't sound like I can recommend any one thing though to fix this entire issue and everyone's experience with this site seems to be different.

To briefly explain what I run, my main system is a Windows 64 bit dual core, 6 Mb Ram, nVidia GT220 card. I also run on a very old Pentium III with Windows XP, and a Laptop with Windows 32 bit and Intel processor and video card.

I've tried Kaptain Brawe on my Windows XP and Windows Vista PC both without issue, but Gametap has reported they had a machine that they couldn't get his issue resolved and needed time to investigate it. I did have this issue with one game (Call of Duty 2), but I found a support document that corrected the game launch issue. But no mention of the games you listed (I'll still post at least for reference)... http://support.gametap.com/selfservice/ ... do?id=6507

The amount of games you're indicating have the green circle indicates a bigger problem, though and may not be something that can be fixed on your side (even though I hate to say that). Anyways, here is what I might suggest in your case. I know you've tried most, if not all of these:
1. UAC ( User account control) - this could disable the player from starting and should be turned off
2. Browser itself running in administrator mode (usually it's just the player install that needs this)
3. DirectX 9c and DirectX 10 updates
4. DEP (data Exectution Protocol) turned off for the Yummy Player - Vista and Seven
5. Antivirus set to allowed for this site (haven't had a problem with myself)
6. Firefox set up the not block popups for site (again no issue with this)

My only other suggestion is if you've had the previous client based software is to uninstall everything Gametap on one PC, including manually deleting the directory, as these probably aren't valid anyway if they go back that far. Thanks for listening. I can only hope that a newer version of of the player will be released to correct with troublesome issue entirely.
