 Thief spinning disc syndrome
Constant spinning mouse pointer icon when launching game but never goes any further. Got log Cyan-647. What could this indicate? I've checked the game requirements and my system should be able to play. Thanks.

Next time you try, pop up task manager and see if the game executable starts. You may want to try disabling DEP for the player. I'm pretty sure this applies to you since you have SP3: http://support.gametap.com/selfservice/ ... .do?id=499

DEP is applicable to any Windows XP system that has SP2 or greater.

 Re: Thief spinning disc syndrome
I dug up our old game requirements file for this game and it says the following: - Latest DirectX - Minimum 64MB video card memory - CPU speed 1500 - 32 bit OS only
The good news is that this game is available on our new encryption platform, so if the encryption driver is the problem you might be able to solve that in a couple of weeks.

 Re: Thief spinning disc syndrome
This is actually sort of a known problem with Thief and a few other games, and it's caused due to existing game DRM interference. It's usually caused either by a disc emulator (such as Alcohol 120 or Daemon Tools), or by your virus scanner. If you have a disc emulator, start with that and turn it off. If that doesn't work, try removing it completely. If that doesn't work or if you don't have such a program, try turning your virus scanner off temporarily to see if that corrects the problem.
