Post subject:  STALKER - No Video (Possible Fix! 9-Apr)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - No video is displayed when starting the game

Customer Support has noticed that a select few individuals are experiencing an issue with STALKER where upon launching the game, no video is displayed. The audio can still be heard on the menu, but the monitor goes to a low-power state, as if it is not receiving a video feed at all from the video card.

At this time, we have not been able to identify the cause. The first of these reports pre-dates the plugin migration. We are asking that all affected please repeat the error, then submit your logs to GameTap and post the log handle here in this thread. We can work together to unravel this mystery and get you guys into the wasteland ASAP!

Possible fix! Download the attachment to this post, unzip the contents to:

XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GameTap Web Player\games\000609250
Vista - C:\ProgramData\GameTap Web Player\games\000609250

Replace the existing two files. Note, this will erase any saves or settings you have for STALKER, but since anyone trying this hasn't played the game yet, it shouldn't be a problem. =)

Start up STALKER through GameTap, and it *should* launch in a 800x600 window. Hopefully from there you can edit the video settings to your preference. Let me know if this helps!

Received a note from the first person to hit this no video issue today:

"I am still running 1024x768 resolution, but on a smaller monitor (a Viewsonic E70, compared to my HP A4033A monitor). Now, the game works perfectly."

Not sure how many people have another monitor around, but try switching out your monitor!
