Still, this is great news for anyone who hasn't had the pleasure of playing this excellent series. I'm also glad they're including the Clan and Inner Sphere mech packs in this as they were ridiculously over priced when they first came out.

Re: Download Mechwarrior 4 and Expansion for FREE...soon Further clarification on this: MW4:Mercenaries will be released with both Clan and IS mech packs, the current community patch/content, and an autopatcher to keep it up to date with the community releases. This means fully functional multiplayer and all of the content from the official and community mech packs will be available in the campaign. For technical (and other) reasons Vengeance and Black Knight will not be released (initially anyway), however, the community dev team that's doing all of this will look into releasing the campaigns (the only meaningful part of those two games anyway) as an update to Mercenaries down the road (still no promises on this though). Well, that sucks. Black Knight is the one I was looking forward to the most. As for Vengeance, they can do whatever they want with that piece of crap. It took me less than a day to beat that game. In my opinion, games should keep you occupied for at least a month. PS: there's another rumor going around that MW4 won't be available until August.

That's no rumor, the devs said themselves that they'd need "a few weeks" and that it would be ready "SOON™". They didn't hear that they were getting this until a day before Smith & Tinker announced it publicly.
