Post what games had the worst end?
when i finish a game i expect to see 2 or 3 things. A 2 - 4 minet video happily ever after story recap, music durring the credits and maybee picturs durring the credits. i do recall a game called istar 3 having a very bad end where you kill the dragon, see the planets line up and see a very short credit list with no music. what other games have had very cheep or bad ends?

Final Fantasy 7, stupidest ending ever. When interviewed they said they wanted it to be like that for people to use their imagination or something, that's why I'm playing a store bought video game RPG to use my imagination and think up my own storyline. And then the company reniged the entire damn thing by making COUNTLESS money gouging FF7 sequel type deals. So, yeah, probably the least appealing ending I've ever witnessed, or rather we didn't witness a damn thing...

It's not the worst, but really dissapointing.

+Final Fantasy Tactics.+

So incredibly weak. Great game though.

Lionheart's ending (actually, last half of the game) was pretty awful.

Not the worst end, but I didn't really like the ending to the new Prince of Persia.

{spoiler}You spend all game putting away Ahriman, only for the Prince to release him again in the end. I was at least hoping there was another way to finish it, but nope, that's the only ending you get{spoiler}

Oh well, maybe the upcoming Epilogue will make things better.

Also, any game that ends on a cliff-hanger, especially if the sequel is unsure. I think I literally shook my fist at the final scene of Beyond Good & Evil, especially since a sequel wasn't announced until very recently.

Any game that ends with, "OMG so it was just a dream the whole time!" I hate that bullcrap.

Pariah. The entire time i was playing that game i was thinking "Im pretty sure this game has a good plot. I really wish they would let me in on it." It was a new experience for me. Throughout the game i had no idea what was going on. When the end came, i only got more confused. Id like to tell you how the game ended, but i really don't know. I beat it and everything, i just didn't know what was going on.

Fallout 3 has the worst ending of any game I can remember. It's bad for so many reasons. Wall of spoiler incoming!

{spoiler}You either sacrifice your teammate or yourself to shut off the water purifier machine before it explodes. Some of the reasons it's terrible lame:

1. The only reason it's irradiated is because your dad (VERY predictably) sacrificed himself to save you... from a few chump soliders you killed dozens of only a few min before he did it.

2. Some of the teammates you can have with you include a supermutant who is immune to radiation, and a ghoul who heals from exposure to radiation - both of which refuse to shut it of for no good reason.

3. At that point you can have either power armor or an advanced radiation suit, which combined with a few anti-radiation drugs make you nearly immune to radiation, not that it matters - even naked with no drugs the radiation in the room is actually quite low compared to many other areas you go in.

4. There is no real end boss, or challenge. Yeah the giant anti-communist robot is AWESOME but it fights everything for you and I think I 1-shotted the general guarding the thing. yawn.

5. The ending forces you to stop playing, even if you sacrifice your teammate instead of yourself. No going off to finish sidequests or play around with the world like in oblivion, the end is the end.

6. Very limited cutscene that hardly changes based on what you do. I seem to recall bethesda saying there was something like 500 different possible endings but really it's more like 8 and they are all only slight rewords of each other.{spoiler}

It's a shame because otherwise it was a pretty good game.

I didn't mind Fallout 3's ending so much, other than I can't keep playing after it ends. The third DLC will pick back up where the main story line left off, and possibly right some the wrongs you described.

Yeah but what if you make the big hard choice and {spoiler}the the bullet{spoiler} Then what with the DLC? I just DL'ed Operation Anchorage today. Thankfully I have my game in perpetual statis until I pick it back up (I've been busy, and decided to break for a bit for some TF2 after 100 freaken hours).

Sidenote: Fable 2's ending was sorta just...odd...but I don't know what else to expect from that game. Having to chose to {spoiler}sacrifice your dog or not {spoiler} was sort of a stupid choice since that's part of the game machanic. So much so that they ended up {spoiler}giving him back in Knothole glade{spoiler} but it was too late then, since most people made different choices to keep the important plot device.
Also the money choice as stupid since I already had more net worth than that.

For Fallout 3... {spoiler} I don't recall them actually saying you die, you just pass out right? I could see the expansion having you wake up in a cot in a medical facility.{spoiler}

Well I haven't gotten to the end, but my understanding is that you {spoiler} gave your life, hence the sacrifice, otherwise what's the good of choice? {spoiler} but your right, they could just suprise us.

You need to fix your spoiler tags like so:

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
and
God of War II

Ending games on cliffhangers with no sequel in sight for years on end (and in God of War's case, not even the same platform)? Bad! Bad! Bad!

Woo other people agreeing about the Fallout 3 ending. I was so disappointed, I just sat there with my mouth hanging open. {spoiler} Had the mutant the first time I finished and when he said no, it was my destiny to go in and die, I was stunned. Made no sense at all when he could just wander in there for hours. Stupid ending. The small cutscene where they recite a few things and claim you made a great sacrifice or didn't follow your dad's example was bad as well. They dropped the ball on the end. Robot was awesome but I expected a bigger fight inside after. Haven't tried the DLC they put out yet, heard the third one will continue the main game though. Might be picking that up. {spoiler}

Did have a lot of fun playing Fallout 3 to that point though. That is the only game that sticks out in my mind as a bad ending, but it was the most recent so might be over riding the others hehe.

{spoiler} You definitely die, IIRC it zooms out and you see your body get turned into a pile of goo (like what happens when you kill things with the plasma rifle) and the ending cinematic says " The child followed the example of the father sacrificing life itself for the greater good of mankind." which kind of makes it clear you did die. Anyway they've already said they are changing the ending for one of the DLCs and I guess retconning in you waking up in a cot instead of dying is probably the most likely thing they will do. {spoiler}

It's kinda good to get this kind of review for the game finally. After trying to play oblivion and a few other games of the like, I'm friggn sick of the first person view running around in a 3d world and then they slap an RPG genre title on it. Glad I won't be forced to play another just to see if it's any good...

KOTOR II's ending. Not so much the ending, but the delivery. I hate Kreia so much.

Assassin's Creed really pissed me off. There was no answers to ANYTHING, and it was just plain weird.

Oh god, thanks for reminding me.

{spoiler} Altair's part ends with a sudden switch over to fantasy after a fairly realistic historical adventure up to this point, and then the future part just ends with "WRITING ON THE WALLS?!" and the credits. I was seriously thinking "That's it? Seriously, that's it?!"

I can understand leaving room for a sequel, but please, we like closure. We like putting down the controller and saying "I rescued the princess, saved the world, and blew up some stuff for good measure! I accomplished something!" After beating AC, I just felt like "Well, that sure was the end of the game...I guess..."{spoiler}

I was actually OK with the ending to Assassin's Creed, with the exception of the final boss.

{spoiler}The switch to the fantasy elements is what killed that part for me too. It didn't bother me that the little epilogue part set in modern times had absolutely no closure at all, since I considered all of that somewhat ancillary to the meat of the game. The worst part was that it seems to be setting things up to where some of the core pieces of the next game may be played out in that modern environment, and I'm not so sure how I feel about that.{spoiler}

MOST of the endings of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The "true" good ending was decent but all the others were crap. And of course HALO 2 "Sir, I'm here to finish the fight" **roll credits**
