The planet Humanis is in big trouble. Aliens from a distant solar system have decided this small world's time has finally come to an end. But before the planet can be destroyed, the humanoid inhabitants are to be abducted and transformed into mutants! As the sole protector of Humanis, it's your job to pilot the Defender spacecraft, protect the helpless humanoids and save the day.

The Scores to Beat

The all-time high score for the arcade version of Defender, as recorded by Twin Galaxies, is an obscene 79,976,975, recorded June 11, 2004 by Chris Hoffman.

The all-time GameTap high score Leaderboard is 100% dominated by
robbietl. When I say 100%, I mean 100% - robbietl owns every one of the top 100 scores of all time!

Another Bounty!

I want to start filling these Leadearboards up, folks, so I'm offering another bounty. We'll make it simple this time - you don't have to get the number one score, but the competitor with the highest score that merely cracks the all-time top 100 will get one free year of GameTap! You can use this year any way you'd like: upgrade from free to Gold, add a year to your current membership, or give it to a friend. The choice is yours, just get on that Leaderboard.

Get practicing, folks, you have six days! Here are the official rules:

1. Contestants will have from 6 a.m. EST to 11:59 p.m. EST on Monday, June 9, 2008, to submit their scores to the leaderboard via the GameTap client.
2. Only the top score per TapID will count toward the contest, with all other scores being thrown out.
3. Only one TapID per household will be eligible.

Tell your friends! Defender is available for FREE on GameTap, and anyone can compete - all it takes is a TapID.
